Job description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated PHP and JavaScript Web Developer to join our dynamic development team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in developing robust web applications using PHP and JavaScript, along with a strong understanding of front-end and back-end technologies. This role will involve working closely with designers, product managers, and other developers to create high-quality web solutions., Develop and Maintain Web Applications:

  • Design, develop, and maintain web applications using PHP and JavaScript.
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code.
  • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.

Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams:

  • Work with designers to implement and refine user interfaces.
  • Coordinate with product managers to understand requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs.
  • Collaborate with other developers to design and optimize code.

Database Management:

  • Design and manage databases to ensure data integrity and optimal performance.
  • Write and optimize SQL queries for efficient data retrieval.

Troubleshoot and Debug:

  • Identify and fix bugs and performance issues.
  • Conduct regular code reviews to maintain high code quality.

Stay Current with Industry Trends:

  • Keep up-to-date with the latest web development technologies and best practices.
  • Participate in continuous learning and professional development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Technical Skills:

  • PHP: Proficiency in PHP and its frameworks
  • JavaScript: Strong understanding of JavaScript and its frameworks/libraries
  • HTML/CSS: Proficient in HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design techniques.
  • Database Management: Experience with SQL databases. Knowledge of NoSQL databases is a plus.
  • Version Control: Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
  • API Integration: Experience with RESTful API design and implementation.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in web development.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT) to improve productivity and streamline development workflows.
  • Experience with modern build tools and development workflows (e.g., Webpack, Babel, npm).
  • Familiarity with cloud services and deployment (e.g., AWS, Azure, Docker).
  • Knowledge of web security best practices.

Miscellaneous

  • Office based (Fareham PO16).
  • The role is intended to be full time (37 hours per week).
