OpenData Clinical is the foundation for intelligent clinical operations.
Patient recruitment is the biggest challenge in the Clinical Trials industry. Delays in this process postpone the study and, ultimately, delay life-changing treatments for people suffering from health problems. Our goal is to accelerate this process.
By identifying which clinical sites perform best, we help bring drugs to market faster. We estimate that OpenData Clinical will save at least one life per year by streamlining Clinical Operations.
You will build the backbone of our data quality engine and pipelines. Your work will empower thousands of curators to process massive datasets with speed and precision, ensuring the life sciences industry has the high-quality data needed to accelerate clinical trials and drug development.
This role is perfect for an engineer who values architectural integrity over quick hacks. You will work in an engineering-led culture that values technical excellence and offers true autonomy to innovate., * Spearhead and take ownership of the data curation application. You won't just take tickets; you will own the full lifecycle of the application's features
- Engineer high-performance Python web services and optimize database interactions for large-scale data ingestion
- Assume full responsibility for features from technical design and estimation to deployment, testing, and observability
- Accelerate architectural enhancements and participate in the decision-making to ensure the application remains scalable, generic, and maintainable
- Proper the end-to-end development of high impact features for our data curation platform
- Lead the integration of complex software components, turning requirements into robust, fully functional solutions
- Work with very large data sets
- Optimize application performance
- Dissect feature requirements, provide the technical vision, and create estimations
Requirements
- Expertise in Python and its core libraries, including experience with FastAPI or a similar framework
- Very good understanding of data modeling and storage using Postgres
- Experience deploying software and managing infrastructure
- Proficiency in designing and developing APIs and building data-intensive applications
- Excellent testing, debugging, and documentation skills
- Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Excellent communication skills in English
- You are proactive, able to communicate progress and delays, to work autonomously, and can take care of technical issues outside of their expertise
- Located in Spain, Portugal, or Germany
Nice to Have
- Hands-on experience with cloud technology stack (AWS, GCP)
- Experience with modern web front-end frameworks like React
- Experience with any of the following: Airflow, EMR Studio, Athena, Kafka, MongoDB
