Job description
For this role, we are looking for an exceptional Motion & Interaction Designer to join our design team. Your mission will be to elevate our UI design at all stages of the customer journey by crafting thoughtful animations, transitions, microinteractions that surprise, delight and guide our customers, as well as supporting designers with assets to take our internal communications to the next level.
You'll play a crucial role in defining our interaction models, enhancing usability, and aligning with our fun and playful brand identity. An essential part of this role is ensuring your designs are optimized for platform-specific differences between iOS, Android and Web creating consistent and tailored interactions.
Though not required, experience designing motion for AI-driven features, like voice or text assistants, is considered a significant plus.
These are some of the key components to the position:
- Design & Deliver: Create high-quality motion and interaction concepts across the JET ecosystem (App and Web).
- Elevate UX: Build micro-interactions, transitions, and animated illustrations that enhance clarity, engagement, and "delight."
- Platform Specialist: Tailor designs to respect the unique interaction patterns and capabilities of iOS (Human Interface Guidelines) and Android (Material Design).
- Systems Thinking: Define and document motion guidelines and interaction patterns to ensure consistency and scalability across our global Design System.
- Collaboration: Work closely with Product Designers and Engineers to ensure animations are not just beautiful, but technically feasible and performant.
- Advocacy: Act as a champion for motion design, demonstrating its value to stakeholders and helping to integrate motion into the core design process.
- Trendsetter: Stay ahead of motion trends and emerging tools, bringing fresh, innovative ideas to the JET Ventures team.
Requirements
- Proven Experience: A strong portfolio showcasing UI animations, micro-interactions, and interactive prototypes. You should be able to explain the logic behind your motion, not just the aesthetic.
- Platform Expertise: Deep understanding of iOS and Android motion behaviors and best practices.
- Modern Prototyping: Proficiency in high-fidelity tools like ProtoPie or Framer to create interactive "source of truth" prototypes.
- Motion Tooling: Advanced knowledge of After Effects, specifically for UI workflows and Lottie/SVG optimization.
- Modern Workflows: Experience with (or a strong interest in) Rive or Spline is a significant advantage.
- Technical Collaboration: Experience working with developers to ensure motion assets are performant and lightweight. You understand that "small file size" is a feature.
- 3D Integration: Ability to use 3D tools (like Blender) to create hero assets or enhance UI depth.
- Accessibility: Knowledge of designing for accessibility, including "Reduced Motion" support and inclusive interaction design.
- AI Literacy: Familiarity with using AI tools for rapid concepting, asset generation, or enhancing the design workflow.
