The Role As a Data Centre Engineer / Critical Site Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting critical electrical infrastructure within a live data centre environment.
This includes working on:
- UPS systems (Uninterruptible Power Supply)
- Standby generators
- LV/HV electrical distribution systems
- Switchgear and control systems
- Building Management Systems (BMS)
You'll work in a safety-critical, high-performance environment, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability., * Carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance
- Maintain and fault-find on critical electrical systems
- Complete technical reports and ensure accurate documentation
- Use CMMS systems for job tracking and compliance
- Support 24/7 operations, including participation in an on-call rota
- Respond to and escalate critical incidents effectively
- Supervise subcontractors and ensure safe working practices
- Assist with remedial works, upgrades, and small projects
- Maintain compliance with Health & Safety, Environmental & Quality (HSEQ) standards
- Attend training, team meetings, and technical briefings
Requirements
- Level 2 & Level 3 Electrical Qualification (City & Guilds or equivalent)
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
- Experience in electrical maintenance (facilities, building services, or industrial environments)
- Strong understanding of fault finding and PPMs
- Good communication and teamwork skills
Desirable
- Experience in data centres or critical environments
- HVAP / LVAP Authorisation
- Knowledge of UPS systems, generators, and critical power infrastructure
