ERP Functional Architect - D365 Finance & Project Operations Location: Global / Virtual Talent Community: Business Applications - ERP Role Family: Solution Architecture Level: Manager, As an ERP Functional Architect in Avanade's Global Integrated Center of Excellence (ICOE), you will play a central role in designing, shaping, and enabling Microsoft Dynamics 365 F&SCM solutions that deliver measurable business impact. You will be the functional expert partnering closely with clients, solution architects, and global delivery teams to translate financial and project-centric business needs into intelligent, scalable, and future-ready D365 solutions.

You will be part of Avanade's most senior global talent community-helping standardize solution approaches, guide delivery excellence, and accelerate transformation programs that increasingly leverage AI-powered capabilities, predictive insights, and automation across finance and project domains.

This is a high-impact architecture role for someone who is passionate about ERP, financial transformation, and the future of intelligent business operations.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture & Design

· Lead the functional architecture of D365 F&SCM across global ERP programs.

· Own end-to-end functional design including process mapping, solution blueprinting, fit-gap analysis, and integration considerations.

· Design intelligent, future-ready solutions that embed AI-powered insights, workflow automation, and predictive analytics in finance and project processes.

· Collaborate with technical and data architects to shape cross-platform roadmaps and ensure solution integrity.

· Participate in Avanade Communities of Practice (COP).

Client Engagement & Advisory

· Serve as a trusted advisor to CFO, PMO, and Finance leadership-advising on process optimization, best practice adoption, and ERP modernization.

· Lead client workshops across Finance, Accounting, Tax, Projects, Costing, Fixed Assets, and Financial Reporting.

· Guide clients through transformation roadmaps using D365 capabilities, including new and emerging features such as Copilot, predictive cash flow modelling, anomaly detection, and intelligent approvals.

Delivery Quality & Governance

· Work with global delivery teams to ensure consistent implementation quality aligned to Avanade's Method One standards.

· Support estimation, solution assurance, functional governance, and design reviews across multi-phase deliveries.

· Partner with Delivery Leads to mitigate risks, ensure alignment on scope, and maintain functional coherence across releases.

Thought Leadership & ICOE Contribution

· Contribute to global standards, templates, accelerators, and architectural patterns for ERP Finance & Project Operations.

· Provide subject-matter leadership on new AI-enabled Finance capabilities and help scale them across regions and industry offerings.

· Mentor consultants globally, helping build Avanade's next generation of ERP capability.

Core Functional Expertise

· Extensive practical experience with D365 Finance modules, such as:

o General Ledger

o Accounts Receivable / Credit & Collections

o Accounts Payable

o Fixed Assets

o Cash & Bank Management

o Budgeting

o Financial Reporting & Consolidations

· Strong experience in Project Management & Accounting or Project Operations modules (preferred).

· Strong understanding of financial processes, compliance, period-end, and project-based accounting.

Solution Architecture & Leadership Skills

· Experience leading functional design on full lifecycle D365 F&SCM implementations.

· Ability to drive functional governance, solution integrity, and cross-workstream alignment.

· Skilled at running client workshops, gathering requirements, conducting fit-gap analysis, and defining target operating models.

AI Skills & Preferred Knowledge

Not mandatory, but highly valued for future-ready transformation programs.

· Understanding of Microsoft AI capabilities across D365, Azure AI, and Copilot.

· Experience designing or deploying AI-driven features such as forecasting, anomaly detection, automation of financial close, or intelligent workflows.

· Familiarity with using AI tools to accelerate functional delivery (e.g., requirements synthesis, documentation automation, test-case generation).

· Awareness of AI governance and responsible AI principles.

Consulting & Soft Skills

· Strong communication and facilitation skills with senior business stakeholders.

· Ability to translate complex functional requirements into clear, business-aligned solutions.

· Collaborative mindset and comfort working in global, multi-disciplinary teams.

· Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps for project delivery., · 8+ years of Microsoft D365 F&SCM functional/consulting experience, with specialization in Finance.

· Experience in project-based industries is highly desirable.

· Professional certifications (D365 Finance, Project Operations, or AI-related) are a plus.

· Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field preferred.
