Role OverviewOur client is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking Principal Electrical Design Engineer to lead the delivery of complex, high-performance electrical systems within mission-critical data centre environments. This role will play a key part in shaping innovative, resilient, and energy-efficient design solutions, while providing technical leadership across multidisciplinary project teams.The successful candidate will take ownership of electrical design strategies across all project stages, from concept through to delivery, ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesTechnical Leadership & DesignLead the electrical design of large-scale data centre projects, including HV/LV distribution, UPS systems, standby generation, earthing, and power resilience strategies.Develop and review detailed engineering designs, specifications, calculations, and reports.Ensure designs meet relevant standards (e.g., BS, IEC, ISO) and align with client performance criteria and sustainability targets.Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design teams.Project DeliveryTake responsibility for project delivery, ensuring quality, programme, and budget targets are achieved.Act as a primary technical point of contact for clients, contractors, and stakeholders.Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (mechanical, public health, sustainability, and digital engineering).Oversee commissioning strategies and support project handover activities.Client & Stakeholder EngagementBuild and maintain strong relationships with key clients within the data centre sector.Support business development activities, including bid preparation and presentations.Provide expert advice on electrical infrastructure, scalability, and future-proofing of data centre facilities.Innovation & SustainabilityDrive innovation in electrical design, focusing on energy efficiency, low carbon solutions, and emerging technologies.Contribute to thought
Requirements
