Job description

We're seeking a hands-on DevOps Engineer to join an award-winning, fast-growing technology business in the telecom billing space.

This is an opportunity to play a meaningful role in the next phase of our cloud and platform evolution. You will work across AWS, Linux, automation, and CI/CD, helping us improve delivery, reliability, and operational efficiency in a secure and scalable way. You will also play a key role in evolving our platform as services continue to be modernised and moved into AWS, with a focus on automation, reliability, and operational consistency.

We are looking for someone who enjoys solving real engineering problems, improving how things are done, and taking ownership of technical work that has a visible impact. For the right person, this is a chance to contribute directly to how our cloud environment, deployment practices, and platform capabilities continue to grow over time.

What you will be doing

You will work closely with development and operational teams to improve automation, delivery, and platform reliability, including:

  • Designing, building, and improving CI/CD pipelines for automated build, test, and deployment
  • Driving practical automation that improves delivery speed, consistency, and quality
  • Managing and optimising AWS infrastructure, including ECS, EC2, S3, Aurora, RDS, IAM, VPC, SQS, and Lambda
  • Administering, troubleshooting, and improving Linux-based systems
  • Writing Python and shell scripts to automate operational and deployment tasks
  • Deploying and managing containerised applications with Docker
  • Implementing monitoring and alerting using Datadog, CloudWatch, or similar tooling
  • Monitoring system performance, identifying bottlenecks, and improving availability and scalability
  • Contributing to secure, reliable, and maintainable engineering practices across cloud and on-prem environments
  • Working with teams to strengthen deployment standards, operational processes, and platform resilience

Requirements

We're looking for someone with solid hands-on DevOps, platform, or cloud infrastructure experience, ideally with:

  • 4+ years in a DevOps, platform, or cloud engineering role
  • Strong hands-on AWS experience in production environments
  • Good knowledge of ECS, SQS, Lambda, and CI/CD tooling such as AWS CodePipeline and GitHub Actions
  • Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills
  • Hands-on experience with Python and shell scripting for automation
  • Experience building, maintaining, and improving CI/CD pipelines
  • Working knowledge of Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Experience with Docker and containerised workloads
  • Familiarity with Node.js environments and PM2
  • A proactive, self-sufficient approach with strong problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work with a high degree of independence while collaborating effectively with others
  • A calm, pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset

Nice to have

  • Experience with Grafana, Datadog, or CloudWatch
  • Understanding of networking and security best practices
  • Experience working in mixed cloud and on-prem environments
  • Exposure to Agile delivery environments
  • Experience with Ansible
