Job description

Our client, a dominant force in the communications, defence, and security sector, is currently seeking a Senior Hardware Development Engineer for a permanent role based in Hampshire. This opportunity offers flexible working arrangements, including onsite presence with some potential for hybrid work when possible., + Act as the primary liaison with the manufacturing team to ensure strong alignment between hardware design and testing.

  • Contribute to overall product development alongside 2 hardware designers, an FPGA engineer, a software engineer, and a mechanical engineer.
  • Ownership of the design and delivery of hardware throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Specification and design of high-speed digital boards for products and test equipment.
  • Design, build, and test development and production test equipment.
  • Co-ordinate design efforts with mechanical, software, and system engineers.
  • Prove hardware design testing and support systems testing stages.
  • Produce development and production test processes and procedures, supporting manufacturing efforts and resolving production issues as needed.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in hardware and electronics engineering.
  • Strong understanding of test processes along with good design awareness.
  • Full development lifecycle experience.
  • Excellent understanding of electronic design fundamentals, high-speed digital design, and signal integrity.
  • Proven expertise in digital circuit development.
  • Proficiency in hardware testing and troubleshooting using tools like oscilloscopes and logic analysers.
  • Experience with industry-standard CAD toolsets (e.g., Cadence or Mentor Schematic & Layout Tools).
  • Relevant degree in Electronic Engineering or a similar discipline.
  • Must be a sole British national capable of obtaining UK security clearance.
