Job description
In this role, you are responsible for Alfen's end-to-end system architecture within the EV Charging business unit. You create the long-term technical vision, guide system-level architecture across multiple product lines, ensure compliance with standards and support teams in making complex architectural decisions.
You collaborate closely with Product & Platform Teams, Discipline Experts, Engineering Leads, Test, Compliance and external partners. Your work ensures system integrity, technical consistency and future-proof solutions.
Your responsibilities include:
Technical Vision & Architectural Strategy
- Defining and maintaining the long-term architectural vision and roadmap.
- Aligning architecture with business strategy, industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Making key architectural decisions, prioritizing technical debt and escalating system risks when needed.
- Balancing cost, performance, compliance and lifecycle considerations across complex systems.
- Supporting the development of a strong R&D partner ecosystem.
Architecture Leadership & Design Excellence
- Leading system-level architecture across projects, platforms and product lines.
- Translating system requirements into actionable architectures and aligning domain architecture.
- Overseeing documentation in JAMA with full traceability.
- Conducting architectural reviews, prototype evaluations and standards compliance checks.
Governance, Standards & Quality Assurance
- Establishing and enforcing architectural governance frameworks and standards.
- Leading architecture working groups across 6+ teams to ensure alignment and quality.
- Developing and maintaining architectural roadmaps and documentation.
Stakeholder Collaboration & Innovation
- Working with executives, engineering teams and product owners to define architectural solutions.
- Communicating complex technical topics to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including customers and authorities.
- Representing Alfen externally in customer discussions, industry forums and technical councils.
- Evaluating emerging technologies and driving innovation initiatives., You will report to the Technology Manager EVC and collaborate closely with engineers, domain architects, test teams and product teams. You play a vital role in ensuring architectural integrity, system scalability and long-term product success.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Electronics, Embedded Systems, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering or similar.
- 10+ years of experience designing and integrating large-scale multidisciplinary systems.
- Deep understanding of architectural principles, patterns and system integration.
- Broad and up-to-date technical knowledge across hardware and software.
- Strong communication skills (English C1) and ability to influence without authority.
- Proven ability to mentor senior engineers and lead cross-functional architecture initiatives.
