Job description

Here at Serco, we are looking for two Data Analysts to join our MI & Analytics team supporting the AFRS contract. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of a high-profile defence programme, delivering impactful data insights that drive operational and strategic decision-making.

As a Data Analyst, you will design and deliver data-driven reporting solutions, enabling AFRS teams to better understand performance, optimise processes, and unlock new insights. You'll work closely with operational leaders, consortium partners, and IT teams, bringing both innovation and pragmatism to how data is used across the programme.

As part of this you'll:

  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders to understand business needs and shape reporting requirements
  • Translate business requirements into data models, dashboards, and analytical solutions
  • Design and develop semantic/presentation layers for reporting
  • Create interactive dashboards and reports using enterprise BI and visualisation tools
  • Develop rapid prototypes and analytical models to explore new insights
  • Provide expert guidance on reporting tools and analytics approaches
  • Support and enable self-service reporting capabilities
  • Collaborate with internal teams, partners, and third-party providers
  • Drive continuous improvement of reporting performance and usability
  • Maintain high-quality documentation (data dictionaries, catalogues, glossaries)
  • Contribute to BI strategy and roadmap development
  • Support resolution of technical data/reporting issues

Requirements

  • Proven experience delivering business intelligence and analytics solutions with measurable value
  • Strong ability to engage stakeholders, challenge assumptions, and translate requirements into solutions
  • Experience across corporate functions (Finance, HR, Procurement, IT) and/or operational systems
  • Broad knowledge of BI tools such as SQL, SSRS, Power BI, Tableau, Domo, Excel
  • Experience with ETL processes and data preparation
  • Working knowledge of tools such as Power BI, Domo, Databricks or similar
  • Understanding of data modelling and reporting frameworks
  • Experience working with third-party partners and offshore teams
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a customer-focused mindset
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
  • SC Clearance (or eligibility) - must have resided in the UK for the past 5 years
