Job description
As a Software Engineer, Embedded, you will be part of the Immersive Audio Team within HARMAN Research and will be responsible for advancing wireless audio technologies from research through improving and maturing wireless technologies on embedded platforms. The role supports innovation across HARMAN's Automotive, Lifestyle, and Professional product lines by developing and evaluating wireless systems, signal processing algorithms, machine learning solutions, and test methodologies. You will participate in end-to-end development and integration of software for complex embedded and Linux-based systems, ensuring seamless interoperability, consistent cross-platform behavior, and outstanding performance., * Develop software for using Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy, and Ultra-Wideband on embedded Linux-based systems.
- Design and implement chipset-agnostic and OS-independent solutions to ensure consistent behavior across platforms.
- Ensure cross-platform integration aligns with performance, security, and UX standards.
- Apply real-time embedded software and wireless communication expertise to deliver robust, scalable solutions.
- Design and implement software components based on new technologies for further integration into products and services by external teams.
- Evaluate, benchmark, and optimize system and algorithm performance, making key technical trade-offs required for productization at mass-production scale.
- Guide technology transfer to commercialization teams and support successful downstream integration.
- Write technical reports, white papers, and patent applications.
Requirements
- Minimum of BSc degree in one of the following fields: Computer Science, Physics, Electrical Engineering, etc. and 6 years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong knowledge of embedded platforms: Embedded Linux, FreeRTOS, Microcontrollers.
- Experience with SW development on embedded platforms, using C/C++ .
- Experience with Wi-Fi, BLE, and UWB on embedded platforms.
- Hands-on experience with continuous integration systems and agile SW development.
- Fluency in developing multi-threaded and interrupt driven programs for real-time applications.
- Experience with SDKs for audio development.
- Business fluent in English (verbal and written).
Bonus Points if You Have
- Experience with IoT frameworks (e.g. Matter).
- Experience with Tizen OS development.
- Experience with Linux driver development.
- Experience with wireless system measurements.
- Experience in multi-ecosystem integration (e.g., home audio, mobile, automotive, professional).
- Experience with DSP algorithms prototyping in MATLAB.
- Understanding of industry standards bodies, interoperability challenges, and ecosystem constraints.
- Track record of patents, publications, or standards contributions in wireless or audio domains.
- Demonstrated ability to design scalable architectures supporting multiple product lines.
