Job description

At Connect Plus Services, we manage and maintain one of the most complex and heavily used road networks in Europe - the M25. This is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to play a key role in keeping the network safe, operational, and resilient for millions of users every day. As a Network Operations Supervisor, you will be at the forefront of operational delivery across your allocated section of the M25 network, ensuring both planned and reactive activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. You will lead teams of Incident Support Unit (ISU) Operatives, Emergency Response Teams (ERT), and Recovery Operatives (Dartford only), creating a strong safety-first culture and driving performance across all activities. You will play a critical role in incident management, acting as Bronze Command on the network, while also supporting inspection regimes and ensuring operational excellence across all maintenance and response activities. Your leadership will directly contribute to the long-term performance, safety, and reliability of this vital infrastructure. What you'll be doing In this role, you will take ownership of day-to-day operational supervision across the network, managing teams on-site to ensure all activities are delivered safely, on time, and in line with required standards. You will oversee both planned maintenance and reactive works, ensuring that resources are effectively allocated and that all activities are accurately recorded within the Maintenance Management System. You will lead daily briefings and end-of-shift debriefs, ensuring that operatives fully understand the methodology, risks, and control measures associated with their work, while continuously capturing lessons learned to improve future performance. You will also support the development and implementation of RAMS and operational procedures, ensuring consistency and compliance across all activities. A key part of your role will involve contributing to incident response, attending events across the network and taking on Bronze Command responsibilities when required. You will also carry out safety tours, litter surveys, and operational checks, ensuring the network remains safe and well-maintained at all times. Alongside operational delivery, you will manage plant, vehicles, and equipment, ensuring checks, defect reporting, and compliance requirements are consistently met. You will also work closely with internal teams including the Network and Tunnels Operations Centre (NTOC), asset teams, health and safety, and training, as well as external stakeholders such as National Highways, emergency services, and supply chain partners.

Requirements

We are looking for a confident and experienced operational leader with a strong background in highways maintenance or a similar environment. You will bring proven experience of managing teams in a live operational setting, with the ability to drive performance while maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance. You will hold a relevant CSCS qualification alongside SMSTS or SSSTS, and demonstrate strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple activities across a busy and complex network. Experience of incident management and working within a regulated or safety-critical environment will be highly advantageous. This is a role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, operationally critical environment and is motivated by leading teams, solving problems, and making a tangible impact on the performance and safety of a major infrastructure network.
