Data Engineer (SQL, ADF & Analytics) Wealth Management/Financial Services London Contract £400-£500 per day
We're partnering with a forward-thinking Wealth Management organisation seeking a talented Data Engineer who excels at transforming complex data into clear, commercially impactful insights. This will critically support a large custodian migration project, which is part of a large strategic transformation to migrate custody platform to SS&C, with a target of completing major data offload by end of this year.
If you combine strong data modelling expertise with compelling visual storytelling and robust data governance practices, this could be the perfect next step.
Responsibilities
- Translate business requirements into scalable, SQL-driven data solutions, ensuring clear documentation and alignment with business needs
- Design, develop, and optimise robust data pipelines using Azure Data Factory (ADF) for ingestion, transformation, and orchestration
- Develop, maintain, and performance-tune advanced SQL (MySQL) queries and stored procedures across large, complex datasets
- Build and optimise efficient data models to support reporting and analytics, with a focus on query performance and scalability
- Support end-to-end data migration, integration, and transformation initiatives across multiple data sources
- Enable downstream reporting by structuring clean, reliable datasets for tools such as Power BI
- Automate data workflows and pipeline scheduling using ADF and supporting technologies
- Track and analyse KPIs across sales, marketing, product, and customer domains through SQL-based data extraction and modelling
- Ensure strong data governance, validation, data quality, and access control frameworks are Embedded within data processes
- Lead data mapping, schema design, and data definition documentation to support consistent and accurate data usage
About You
- Strong background in Financial Services or Wealth Management - Required
- Proven experience in Data Engineering/Data Analytics role
- Data migration, coupled with Advanced SQL capability (querying, optimisation, transformation)
- Strong data quality and validation experience
- Confident communicator, able to present
- Advanced Azure Data Factory (ADF) insights clearly to non-technical stakeholders
