Job description
As Head of IT at the Port of Milford Haven, you will:
- Ensure the Port's technology vision and strategy delivers against the needs of our customer and business.
- Work with the Network & Infrastructure Manager, ensure full alignment with the ICT and Business Strategies and create a blueprint for the way forward of the MHPA ICT Applications Infrastructure.
- Drive solution synergies across the Port in relation to technology; collection, storage and security of all data; service lifecycle management etc.
- Support the diverse portfolio of IT projects and programmes for the Port delivering fit for purpose solutions.
- Work closely and in partnership with the ICT Network & Infrastructure Manager to utilise their insight knowledge and skill set to best support the Port.
- Manage the Digital Solutions Delivery (DSD) Team whilst, also, providing hands-on support as necessary to deliver project, change and BAU.
- Manage suppliers ensuring an efficient service and value for money., * Provide the technology vision to sustain and support the business objectives seeking to leverage IT best practice and optimise operational costs.
- Work collaboratively to devise on-going technical strategy, deliver highly effective and innovative technology solutions both for internal operational purposes.
- Develop and maintain the blueprints/roadmaps for all aspects of technology and application software.
- Collaborate on building transformational strategies to simplify operations.
- Drive operational excellence and seek continuous improvement and maximum employee flexibility
- in the day-to-day operations of the ICT Team
- Technical design, delivery, and support for O365 Solutions Analyst.
- Manage licences and update/remove as necessary to control costs.
- Build key technical and behavioural capabilities within the DSD team and wider business to support transformation.
- Lead on specific ICT projects.
- Deliver Cyber Awareness training for all employees concentrating on threat awareness and best practice. Deliver this training plan to staff on an annual ongoing basis.
- Implementation of the Port's procedures and policies.
- Manage the DSD Team whilst, also, providing hands-on support as necessary to deliver project, change and BAU.
- Manage the ICT OPEX and CAPEX budgets, working with the Procurement Manager to obtain competitive prices from hardware and software suppliers ensuring value for money.
- Ensure all ICT solutions are documented, and support knowledge disseminated amongst the team.
- Ensure relationships with CPNI, DfT and NCSC are maintained to ensure MHPA systems are safe by design keeping up to date with current and emerging threats.
- Identify and implement appropriate mitigation actions against threats.
- Ensure compliance with the NiS Directive and manage the relationship with the DfT.
- Will act as the Port's Data Protection Officer
- Identify, maintain and manage data protection risks and GDPR compliance. Ensuring MHPA are protected from internal and external attack.
- Provide, or arrange, out of hours support as required and requested by the business.
- Provide clear reporting on a monthly basis on team performance and delivery.
- Other duties of a similar level as required.
Requirements
- Proven experience within a similar role with a team supporting Windows operating systems, Microsoft O365 products, network administration, cyber and data security.
- Combines people skills with technological wisdom and a greater business understanding.
- Working knowledge of MS Windows Server, MS Exchange Server, SQL Server, networks, Cloud, database administration, Technology Security, desktop application deployments and O365.
- Demonstrable experience in the delivery of translating business needs into infrastructure, application strategies and creating digital capability.
- Excellent Project Management and team management skills.
- A collaborative leader who can motivate and inspire through injected best practices, and can demonstrate solid business acumen in developing successful, innovative and cost-effective solutions.
- The ability to take technical applications and infrastructure scenarios and translate them succinctly between IT, Operations and Senior Managers.
- Ability to clearly document systems and procedures for support purposes.
- Experience of delivering excellence within a high demanding operational environment.
- The ability to work independently with initiative and minimum supervision.
- Good communication and inter-personal skills including negotiation/influencing skills.
- Good time management with ability to work to strict deadlines.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and work to tight deadlines.
- Ability to work with people at all levels within organisation.
- Ability to delegate tasks and bring in resource as required. Ensuring that there is no single point of failure or contact within the team.

Desirable:
- Degree or equivalent within an ICT related discipline.
- CISM certification or equivalent.
- ITIL qualification.
- Influencing and negotiating skills.
Benefits & conditions
The starting salary for this role is £65,176.14 but there is some flexibility subject to experience and market benchmarking. Contractual hours
