The organisation has a strong digital focus and is continuing to modernise its cloud infrastructure and deployment practices to support internal users and external stakeholders. The environment is collaborative, stable and supportive, with a strong emphasis on security, reliability and long-term improvement rather than short-term delivery. Your new role As an Infrastructure Engineer, you'll support and develop a modern AWS-based infrastructure while working closely with developers to improve application delivery and deployment processes. This role offers a clear progression path into a DevOps position, providing hands-on exposure to automation, CI/CD, Infrastructure-as-Code and cloud engineering practices. You'll take ownership of day-to-day cloud infrastructure operations, while gradually increasing your involvement in DevOps tooling and workflows such as CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments. • Generous pension scheme, with employer contributions of up to 12%
  • Private medical insurance and health insurance options

Key responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining, patching and monitoring AWS Linux Servers and services
  • Building, configuring, documenting and retiring cloud infrastructure resources
  • Managing AWS services including EC2, RDS, VPC, S3, IAM, Route 53, Load Balancers, Auto Scaling, Security Groups and CloudFront
  • Supporting SQL databases (Postgres or MySQL), including installation, backup, restore and migration
  • Monitoring cloud usage and costs and suggesting efficiency improvements
  • Installing and configuring web and application software (Apache, Nginx, PHP, Python)
  • Managing Cloudflare DNS and Firewall configuration
  • Installing, configuring and renewing SSL certificates
  • Contributing to CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
  • Supporting the security, patching and modernisation of Legacy systems

What you'll need to succeed:

  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS infrastructure
  • Good Linux systems administration experience
  • Experience working with SQL databases (Postgres or MySQL)
  • Exposure to CI/CD, ideally using GitHub Actions
  • Confidence using the command line
  • Shell Scripting experience (bash, sh, YAML)
  • DNS configuration and SSL certificate management knowledge
  • Understanding of networking concepts such as VPCs, subnets and security groups

Desirable experience includes:

  • Cloudflare
  • Infrastructure-as-Code tools
  • Azure exposure
  • Docker
  • PHP or Python
  • SQL querying

What you'll get in return:This role offers an excellent long-term career proposition with clear progression into a DevOps position, with hands-on experience in CI/CD, automation and cloud engineering.
