Job description
This is a key role focused on reaching target demographic groups who are not currently engaging with public libraries. You will lead the development and delivery of innovative outreach activities, working with schools, community groups, and organisations to change perceptions and promote the library as a welcoming, inclusive space for all.
You will also lead on the creation and delivery of a dynamic programme of activities for children and young people, supporting literacy, reading for pleasure, and lifelong learning. This includes managing relevant stock and resources, developing digital content, and working closely with education professionals to support the curriculum., * Develop and deliver outreach programmes to engage underrepresented communities.
- Promote the library service through visits, events, and media campaigns.
- Lead on the design and delivery of activities for children and young people, including the Summer Reading Challenge and other literacy initiatives.
- Devise reader development sessions to embed reading for pleasure and knowledge in everyday life.
- Develop training programmes to support early years literacy and information literacy for older children.
- Create and lead digital activities to promote reading and audience engagement.
- Advise schools on supplementing library services and supporting curriculum-based reading.
- Identify and evaluate opportunities for service development and commercial growth.
- Foster a mentoring culture to enhance staff knowledge and customer experience.
- Ensure effective communication and engagement with staff to support service outcomes.
- Collaborate with other services to ensure a seamless customer experience.
- Deputise for the Systems Team Manager when required.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Organizational skills?, We're looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about libraries, literacy, and community engagement.
- Experienced in outreach, education, or youth services.
- A confident communicator with strong organisational and leadership skills.
- Creative, proactive, and committed to inclusion and innovation., Level 5 - You will need to be able to communicate fluently in Welsh. Reasonable support can be provided on appointment to reach this level.
