Job description

Data Engineer - System Design Stability - £505 per day - Inside IR35 - Hybrid working (3 days a week in Bristol) - contract until end of 2026., As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust data models and pipelines, while enabling high-quality reporting and insights across the business.

You'll work closely with stakeholders across IT and business functions to ensure data solutions are aligned with requirements and deliver tangible value.

Key Responsibilities-

  • Develop and maintain data models to support change control and reporting requirements
  • Build and optimise data pipelines using Databricks (SQL & Python)
  • Design and deliver Power BI dashboards using conformed data models
  • Translate business requirements into scalable data solutions and reporting outputs
  • Ensure alignment between business logic, data models, and visualisations
  • Collaborate with IT, IIM, and IDA stakeholders across the organisation
  • Support the adoption of data-centric ways of working and upskill team members
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and best practice in data engineering

Requirements

Essential:

  • Strong experience in data engineering, software development, and data visualisation
  • Solid SQL and Python development skills
  • Experience working with Databricks and modern data platforms
  • Strong understanding of data modelling and database design
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills

Desirable:

  • Degree in a relevant science, engineering, or technical discipline
  • Experience in a highly regulated environment (e.g. nuclear, energy, infrastructure)
  • Knowledge of quality assurance frameworks and structured delivery environments
  • Familiarity with project management, budgeting, and scheduling
