Senior Product Data Scientist

We're hiring multiple Senior Data Scientists across different areas of the business. Rather than hiring for one fixed team, we use the interview process to understand your strengths, interests and development areas, and then align you to the right scope, remit and team.

We have an outstanding analytics organisation, with a mission to enable the highest quality human and machine decision-making.

Our community is highly active, with guest lectures, study groups, mentorship programmes and a robust technical review process. Data Scientists can progress equally as technical leads or people managers.

Our data scientists come from all kinds of backgrounds but have excellence in common. Many are formally trained in data science, many are not.

What You'll Be Doing

You will help answer questions like:

• Which markets/cities should we enter next?
• How can we incentivise good rider behaviour?
• What is the impact of exclusive deals we have with restaurants?
• How do we optimise our compensation policy to keep our customers happy and ordering with Deliveroo?
• What are the trade-offs we face when choosing between growth and profitability? How should we decide between them?
• How much should our pricing vary by distance and by market?
• What is the optimum selection and variety of restaurants in a particular area?
• How do we adapt our consumer app to better suit grocery shoppers?

• Significant experience in Data Science (or similar) roles.
• Experience leading both simple and more complex experiment designs, with the ability to proactively unpick insights to steer strategic decision making
• Great communication skills - in person, in writing, in code; to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Through solid analysis, provide clear and actionable recommendations that influence the team's roadmap.
• Effective problem-solving, demonstrating an ability to successfully address complex and ambiguous challenges.
• Ability to think creatively and insightfully about business problems
• Proficiency with analytical tools like R/Python and familiarity with SQL. Proficiency with Cursor/AI tools to deliver impactful, high-quality work efficiently is also valued
• A pragmatic, flexible approach, where you most care about achieving impact
