Job description
The Development Team Lead (DTL)'s primary task is to guide his/her team of software engineers. (Level A to C) The DTL combines technical expertise with leadership by helping the engineers in their daily work, monitoring code quality and ensuring that the developed software fits within the vision and architecture of the Bijenkorf eCommerce platform. The DTL looks for ways to optimize the development process and guide the team to research and implement new techniques. The main responsibility is to work with the other team leads and help the engineers maintain, improve and provide new functionality to the Bijenkorf eCommerce platform, considering the long-term strategy and vision. To successfully fulfill this position, in-depth and broad knowledge of software development is required.
About the role
Your key responsibilities are:
- Oversees the architecture and design of the software. Provides technical guidance and solutions to complex problems
- Performs code reviews and monitors compliance with coding standards and best practices within the team.
- Takes the lead in resolving technical issues and supporting the team in resolving issues.
- Coordinates daily activities of the team, including distributing tasks and managing workload.
- Ensures positive team dynamics and provides support and guidance to team members.
- Serves as the main liaison between the development team and other departments such as product management, design, and operations.
- Maintains regular communication with stakeholders to report progress and gather feedback.
- Ensures adequate documentation of the development process, technical decisions, and systems.
- Identifies opportunities for improvement in the development processes and proposes changes to increase efficiency and quality.
- Stays informed of new technologies and techniques and investigates how they can be applied within the team.
- Provides mentoring to less experienced developers to improve their technical skills and knowledge.

Requirements
- 7+ years of work experience in software development, 2 years of experience in a managerial position, experience with complex architecture and delivering, improving and maintaining complex environments with a clear front-end focus.
- HBO/WO thinking level (Completed HBO/University bachelor's degree)
- Proven in-depth knowledge of React and other front-end techniques such as JS and TS
- Knowledge of JVM based languages such as Java, Kotlin is a plus
- Knowledge of high volume, high traffic web environments
- Preferably knowledge of Docker, Kubernetes, Azure/GCP/AWS, Cloudflare and Jenkins.
- Team player, motivator of his/her development team, bridge between technology and functionality
