Job description

We are seeking an experienced UX / UI Designer to join the team on a 12 month Fixed-Term Contract to cover maternity leave. This role will play a critical part in maintaining momentum across our digital product portfolio, partnering closely with the Global Head of UX & Design and Senior UX Designer to deliver high-quality, user-centred experiences across our trading platforms.

The successful candidate will take ownership of end-to-end design execution, contributing hands-on design expertise while embedding seamlessly within cross-functional product teams. You will work on complex, data-rich products, balancing usability, performance, and commercial priorities within a fast-paced financial services environment. This is an ideal opportunity for a strong mid-weight or senior designer who is comfortable operating with autonomy, while aligning to established design systems, standards, and ways of working.

Role Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with the Global Head of UX & Design & Senior UX Designer to translate strategic vision into compelling, user-centred product experiences across trading platforms
  • Lead end-to-end design delivery using Figma as the primary tool, including wireframes, prototypes, high-fidelity designs, and scalable design system components
  • Help to manage the design system and UI component library in Figma, ensuring consistency, accessibility, and scalability across products
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Development, and Business stakeholders to define problems, validate solutions, and deliver impactful outcomes
  • Champion user-centred design principles, incorporating user research, usability testing, and data insights into design decisions
  • Facilitate workshops, design critiques, and stakeholder reviews to align on solutions and drive consensus
  • Create and maintain clear design documentation and developer handoff using Figma (including specs, annotations, and interactive prototypes)
  • Work within agile product teams, contributing to sprint planning, backlog refinement, and iterative delivery
  • Identify opportunities to improve the overall user experience across digital channels and proactively propose innovative solutions
  • Ensure high-quality execution through design QA, validating that implemented solutions meet design standards before release

Requirements

  • Advanced proficiency in Figma (component libraries, auto layout, prototyping, design systems, and developer handoff) - this is a core requirement

  • Mid-weight/Senior level with prior experience of designing impeccable customer experience and design within the Finance and Fintech industries

  • Proven experience as a UX/Product Designer working on complex digital products (ideally within financial services or trading environments)

  • Experience working within and contributing to design systems at scale

  • Experience collaborating closely with developers and understanding front-end constraints

  • Strong understanding of UX principles, interaction design, and information architecture

  • Ability to balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints

  • Confident communicator with experience in presenting and defending design decisions to senior stakeholders

  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and working within cross-functional product teams

  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset with a strong attention to detail

Desired

  • Experience working on data-heavy, workflow-driven, or B2B platforms, ideally within trading, market data, or analytics environments
  • Exposure to accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG) and inclusive design best practices
  • Experience contributing to or evolving enterprise-level design systems, including governance and documentation
  • Comfort stepping into an existing product and design ecosystem, quickly building context and delivering impact with minimal ramp-up
  • Experience partnering with Product Managers and Engineers to shape requirements from early discovery through delivery
  • Working knowledge of front-end frameworks (e.g. React) and how design decisions translate into build
  • Experience supporting or participating in user research, usability testing, or design validation, even where formal research functions exist
  • A pragmatic, delivery-focused mindset suited to a fixed-term, business-critical role, with the ability to prioritise effectively and manage competing demands
