At Mark1 IT we support UK SMBs across cloud, security, networking and on-site infrastructure. We care about doing things properly and giving our team the space to plan, deliver and take pride in the work. This role is hands on across our entire stack. You will plan installations and changes, write a simple runbook, bring the plan for sign off, then deliver it cleanly. You will also create documentation that helps 1st line resolve more tickets without escalation and you will run short client training sessions when needed.

What you will do
- Own 2nd line tickets and deliver clean resolutions end to end
- Plan and deliver installations and changes across servers, switches, WiFi and NAS
- Build Hyper V hosts and VMs with pre checks, testing and a clear definition of done
- Configure and support Microsoft 365, Intune, Entra ID, Windows Server and AD
- Configure SonicWall firewalls, VPN, routing, VLANs and WAN services
- Implement and support Barracuda Email Protection and ESET endpoint security
- Design and operate Veeam backups with suitable retention and test restores
- Write short KB articles and how to guides so 1st line can follow them
- Spot risks in client environments and recommend improvements
- Support the sales team by identifying components and effort for quotes and proposals
- Keep tidy documentation in HaloPSA and use RMM tools to prevent issues
Requirements
- 3+ years in a multi client MSP/Internal IT Department with solid 2nd line ownership
- Windows Server deployment and administration including building VMs and hosts
- Networking fundamentals including IP addressing, switch configuration and installation, VLANs, routing and VPN
- Telecoms experience such as SoGEA, FTTP and Ethernet circuits and QoS awareness for VoIP
- Phone systems configuration and deployment
- WiFi and NAS selection, installation and configuration in SMB environments
- Firewalls including policies, NAT, VPN and safe change planning
- Backup design and operation using Veeam
- Email security with Barracuda and endpoint security with ESET or similar
- Awareness of Cyber Essentials with willingness to follow the standard
- Comfortable with PowerShell fundamentals and remote monitoring and management tools
- Strong ticket ownership, documentation, calendar management and self planning
- Happy to coach junior technicians and deliver short client training via Teams
- Full UK driving licence and ability to commute to LE13
Nice to have
- SonicWall certification or equivalent vendor training
- Microsoft certifications
- Experience producing simple rack plans and one page runbooks, * MSP environment: 3 years required, * Describe one Windows Server or Hyper V build you planned and delivered. What were your pre checks and definition of done
- Outline a firewall or network change you implemented, including rollback steps
- Confirm your experience installing switches, WiFi and NAS drives
- Please list the platforms you have hands on experience with from the following: SonicWall, Veeam, Barracuda, ESET or list equivalents.
