Job description
A Conveyor System Project Manager provides management and supervision for both the technical and commercial aspects of a project. Technical managerial requirements include the coordination and supervision of mechanical and electrical controls and installation of the project. Commercial managerial requirements include scheduling, budgeting and customer communications., * Provide customers with a single point of contact to define project scope, goals, deliverables.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop comprehensive project plans, timelines, and budgets.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop system concepts, layouts, estimates, and proposals.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance throughout the sales/preorder, design and engineering phases, including systems engineering, mechanical/design engineering, and electrical/controls engineering.
- Oversee procurement processes including sourcing components, negotiating contracts, and managing supplier relationships.
- Ensure projects adhere to quality, schedule/delivery, and cost/budget specifications.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including drawings, specifications, change orders, and progress reports.
- Communicate project status, issues, and risks to stakeholders on a regular basis. This includes managing and forecasting profitability as well as reporting on technical or schedule risks.
- Collaborate with the engineering department to review scheduling requirements and design strategy as it relates to technical requirements and adherence to specifications.
- Collaborate with the manufacturing department to review time estimates and scheduling requirements.
- Collaborate with outside vendors and subcontractors regarding make/buy decisions and contract administration.
- Ability to travel 30% of the time to customer sites.
- Oversee installation activities, such as site preparation, equipment assembly, and system integration.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure work is carried out according to specifications and safety standards.
- Prepare post-project evaluations to identify areas for improvement.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (or similar technical discipline) preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously is essential.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar 2D Cad software required.
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Suite required.
- Scheduling software experience preferred (e.g. MS Project, Smart Sheet).
- ERP Software experience preferred.
- Conveyor system experience preferred.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
To perform the essential functions of this position, this person must possess:
- The ability to traverse long distances in potentially large industrial facilities.
- The ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
- The ability to climb ladders and catwalks.
- The vision and dexterity to operate technical tools of the trade, including, but not limited to, (laser) tape measures, (laser) levels and tachometers.
