Requirements

repetitive operational work and reduce human intervention Instrumenting systems with monitoring and observability tooling, using data to improve reliability and performance Working closely with engineering teams to embed best practices in system design and architecture Diagnosing and resolving complex incidents across the full technology stack Contributing to a broader SRE / DevOps community, sharing knowledge and improving standards Ideal Background Experience in software engineering, ideally with Java and web technologies (JavaScript, HTML) Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or OpenStack) Solid Linux and/or Windows command line experience (Bash, PowerShell) Exposure to distributed systems, microservices, and containerisation (Docker) Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g. ELK stack) Familiarity with databases such as Elasticsearch or MongoDB Experience with CI/CD or configuration management tools (Chef, Puppet) Proven ability to troubleshoot production issues across infrastructure and application layers Understanding of Agile environments and tooling (e.g. Jira) What You'll Receive £40,000 - £65,000 base salary depending on experience Hybrid working model with flexibility built in Opportunity to work on high-impact, secure programmes with real-world outcomes Access to complex engineering challenges not typically found in commercial environments Strong internal engineering culture with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation Who Should Apply Engineers who want to move beyond traditional operations into true SRE Candidates who enjoy solving complex reliability and scalability challenges Individuals comfortable working in secure, high-trust environments People who value impact, ownership, and engineering depth over surface-level delivery Clearance & Eligibility Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be eligible for UK security clearance.
