Job description

  • Manage and perform system administration, including deployment, configuration, and maintenance of Linux and Windows server environments.
  • Conduct backup and disaster recovery procedures to ensure system resilience.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to applications, networks, and infrastructure components.
  • Lead system design activities, translating requirements into effective technical solutions.
  • Support the installation, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of hardware and software components.
  • Collaborate with project teams to implement and improve infrastructure solutions using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
  • Containerize applications using Docker and orchestrate with Kubernetes to enhance deployment efficiency.
  • Monitor system health and network performance, using tools like Elasticsearch, Kibana, and network health monitoring solutions.
  • Manage cloud services in AWS or Azure to support scalable, secure environments.
  • Contribute to continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines using tools like Concourse and Atlassian Suite.
  • Participate in system upgrades, migrations (e.g., RedHat migrations), and capacity planning.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps to facilitate knowledge sharing.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a solid background in systems engineering within software-intensive environments, with a focus on infrastructure management, cloud services, and DevOps practices.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience working within Agile, SCRUM, or DevOps delivery models.
  • Extensive background as a Systems Engineer in software-intensive programs, covering requirements analysis through to acceptance and customer sign-off.
  • Strong understanding of designing and implementing large-scale information systems.
  • Proficiency in Linux system administration (RedHat, CentOS) and Windows Server environments, including Active Directory management.
  • Familiarity with physical hardware components such as servers, storage, and desktops.
  • Ability to take technical responsibility and work closely with project management teams to deliver solutions.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Knowledge of VMware vSphere ESXi virtualization.
  • Experience with enterprise frameworks like MODAF or TOGAF in systems architecture.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and health check tools.
  • Experience with Migration projects, especially RedHat migrations.
  • Working knowledge of Concourse CI/CD pipelines and Atlassian tools (Jira, Bitbucket).
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code tools like Terraform and Ansible.
  • Containerization and orchestration expertise with Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with Elasticsearch, Kibana, and Apache Kafka.
  • Database management skills, including MongoDB.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and support enterprise-level web applications/services.
