Job description

We are seeking a QA Tester to support quality assurance efforts for software tools, systems, and workflows used to create and deliver consumer-facing instructional content for PlayStation products. This role focuses on validating functionality, ensuring workflow reliability, and maintaining quality standards across internal platforms used by cross-functional teams.

Core Responsibilities

  • Execute defined manual functional and regression test cases across web-based and desktop applications.
  • Validate bug fixes and enhancements against documented requirements.
  • Identify, reproduce, and document defects using issue-tracking systems (e.g., Wrike).
  • Write clear bug reports with reproducible steps, expected vs. actual results, and supporting evidence.
  • Follow established QA processes, test plans, and documentation standards.
  • Collaborate with software developers, product owners, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and expected behavior.
  • Maintain test checklists and lightweight test documentation to support ongoing regression and release testing.
  • Manage assigned work independently and meet agreed-upon timelines.

Requirements

  • Experience performing software QA or testing in a professional environment.
  • Hands-on experience with manual functional and regression testing.
  • Familiarity with web-based systems and typical web application stacks, including:
  • Front-end technologies such as JavaScript and jQuery
  • Back-end or server-side concepts (e.g., APIs, databases, PHP)
  • Relational databases (e.g., MySQL) at a basic validation/query level
  • Working knowledge of structured content formats such as XML (DITA experience preferred).

  • Experience testing desktop or locally run applications and scripts (e.g., Python-based tools).

  • Familiarity with defect tracking and collaboration tools (e.g., Wrike, Confluence).

  • Experience performing QA as part of an Agile Scrum team.

  • Basic understanding of software development concepts (e.g., builds, environments, versioning).

  • Experience using Git for source control.

  • Ability to follow defined processes, manage multiple test tasks, and work effectively with technical teams.

  • Linguistic QA experience and/or experience working with Japan-based teams a plus.

  • Familiarity with content management systems or publishing workflows a plus.

Education

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
