Job description

Location: Remote with 1x per month travel to Reading Contract: Initial 6 months Rate: £650 per day (Outside IR35)

We are seeking a Cyber Security Specialist to support a leading telecommunications client, working within the AI Engineering team as part of the wider Data & Analytics function.

This is a hands-on role where security is central to everything being built. The team develops AI and data science solutions that are presented to senior leadership, and you will act as the bridge between the AI Engineering team and the client's internal cyber function, owning end-to-end security across outputs.

Essential Skills

  • Strong technical cybersecurity background (hands-on, not just governance)
  • Experience with cloud security (Azure, GCP, and/or Databricks)
  • Ability to work across multi-platform environments
  • Experience embedding secure development practices within engineering teams
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary cybersecurity point of contact between AI Engineering and internal cyber teams
  • Ensure all applications and data products are secure and production-ready before reaching senior stakeholders
  • Build and document cybersecurity processes and standards for the team
  • Provide technical security guidance to engineers across AI/ML and data platforms
  • Support security across Databricks, Azure, and GCP environments
  • Embed best practices across AI, ML models, and LLM-powered applications

Desirable Experience

  • Exposure to AI/ML security
  • Experience working in data science or AI-driven environments
