Job description

South Staffordshire Plc is embarking on an exciting period of digital transformation, and we're looking for an influential and business-focused IT Business Partner to help shape the future of technology across our organisation. This is a strategic role, acting as the key interface between IT and the wider business, ensuring our technology services, solutions, and roadmaps deliver real value and support our long-term goals.

The Role:

  • Act as the primary IT point of contact for designated business areas
  • Understand business strategies and translate them into IT requirements
  • Influence and shape IT roadmaps to align with business objectives
  • Identify opportunities for technology to improve efficiency, reduce risk, or enable transformation
  • Capture, assess, and prioritise business demand for IT services and projects
  • Work with architecture, delivery, and service teams to scope and size initiatives
  • Support business cases, cost estimates, and benefits realisation
  • Ensure demand aligns with capacity, budgets, and strategic priorities
  • Monitor IT service performance and ensure SLAs and KPIs are met
  • Identify service issues, risks, and trends, coordinating resolution
  • Communicate service performance, planned changes, and improvements
  • Act as an escalation point for service concerns
  • Ensure IT activities follow governance, architecture, and security standards
  • Support risk assessments, audits, and compliance activities (CAF, DWI, NIS, ISO)
  • Promote adherence to data governance, cyber security, and change management processes
  • Build trusted relationships with senior leaders and project sponsors
  • Facilitate workshops, requirements sessions, and strategic discussions
  • Communicate complex IT topics in clear, business-friendly language
  • Provide insight into technology trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Track and report on IT initiatives, benefits, and performance
  • Identify and drive process improvements and digital adoption

Requirements

  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements
  • Understanding of IT service management, project delivery, and architecture principles
  • Experience working in a matrixed IT environment
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and drive outcomes

Desirable

  • Experience in regulated industries (utilities, water, energy)
  • Knowledge of cyber frameworks (CAF, NIS, ISO 27001)
  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture and digital transformation
  • Understanding of data governance and cloud technologies
