Job description

An Average Day: As Network Administrator Lead, you will be responsible for leading a team of network administrators and overseeing the health and performance of enterprise network systems. In addition to managing daily operations, you will serve as the Deputy IT Operations Center (ITOC) Manager, filling in during the ITOC Manager's absence and participating in the on-call rotation for critical infrastructure and incident response. You will also ensure continuous network operations across LAN/WAN environments, supports mission-critical systems, and maintains compliance with all regulatory and security standards. Additionally, in this position you will:

  • Lead and manage a team of NOC personnel, including task oversight, timesheet approval, performance reviews, etc.
  • Facilitate the weekly Network Operations meeting; review prior outages, upcoming maintenance, departmental incidents, and ensure items are captured in calendars and reports.
  • Serve as Deputy ITOC Manager, participating in the on-call rotation and managing major IT incidents and daily operations calls when required.
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management of network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLAN, Wi-Fi).
  • Monitor and respond to network alerts, ensure incidents are accurately documented, and maintain up-to-date communications in Teams and stakeholder channels.
  • Maintain network compliance through proper configuration, patching, change management, and adherence to security and regulatory standards.
  • Analyze and report on network KPIs, author the monthly outage report, and present NOC performance in contract leadership briefings.
  • Reassign incidents from the self-service dashboard to appropriate teams (NetOps, NetSec, NetMgt), and review firewall RITMs and overdue change requests.
  • Perform scheduled administrative duties such as bi-monthly guest Wi-Fi password updates and annual accomplishments presentations.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and customer leadership to ensure alignment on network health, operations planning, and incident response.

Requirements

  • As a requirement of this position, all candidates must be a U.S. Citizen. In accordance with 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(2)(C) , we will not consider candidates for this position who do not meet the aforementioned conditions.
  • Must be able to pass federal background investigation and obtain a Public Trust
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in network operations or infrastructure support.
  • 2+ years in a team leadership or management role
  • Experience, education, or training in installing, configuring, and maintaining Cisco network and/or security equipment.
  • Proficiency in network design documentation using Visio and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze and recognize solutions.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts, principles, and practices.
  • Experience with BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP routing protocols.
  • Familiarity with MPLS networks.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze packet captures, OSI model, cable plant systems, and data center architecture.
  • Experience with tools such as cable analyzers, SolarWinds Orion, Live Action, and Cisco Prime Infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of network firewalls, security appliances, VPNs, and access control methodologies
  • Understanding of wireless networking technology.
  • Experience with network segmentation, DNS, DHCP, and IPAM.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise network architecture, protocols, and tools.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and coordination skills.

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is committed to pay transparency for our applicants and employee-owners. The salary range for this position is USD $72,634.50/Yr. - USD $156,286.00/Yr. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
