Job description

You will be joining the team that is responsible for the design and implementation of Meta's global core IP networks (Express Backbone). The team is responsible for the routing platforms, protocols, and architecture that connect Meta's data centers to each other as well as to the networks that connect them to the internet.Our backbones continue to rapidly expand globally, based on the, most recently, network demands that our AI journey brings. One of them, "Express Backbone", handles machine to machine traffic between our Data Centers and we are connecting public cloud locations to augment our computing capabilities. This role will give you the chance to participate in designing and growing of one of the largest backbone networks in the world.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience

  2. 2+ years of experience coding in higher-level languages (e.g., Python, C++, Go, etc.)

  3. 6+ years of experience in one or more of BGP, MPLS, ISIS or similar routing protocols - knowledge in typical configurations and performance tuning

  4. Must have Experience designing and operating a network comprising 50 or more backbone nodes

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. 5+ years of experience understanding and mitigating network hardware and topology failures

  2. Proficient level knowledge of TCP/IP and IPv6

  3. Experience operating and designing Software Defined Networking-based backbone networks

  4. Knowledge in routing and switching - hardware design and knowledge of forwarding and data planes

  5. Experience developing and understanding network device configuration for at least one vendor (Juniper, Cisco, Arista, Brocade, etc.)

  6. Experience with developing distributed systems and operating them at scale

  7. Experience with automation frameworks and tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef

  8. Experience in configuration and maintenance of network devices and Network Management Systems, or applications such as web servers, load balancers, relational databases, storage systems and messaging systems

  9. Experience learning software, frameworks, and APIs
