Job description
The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for ensuring the performance, security, operational readiness, and availability of mission-critical network systems supporting DoD programs. This role combines advanced network engineering with direct operational and field support to sustain system functionality in dynamic environments. The Senior Network Engineer interfaces with end users and stakeholders to resolve technical issues while maintaining compliance with cybersecurity requirements., * Design, configure, and maintain network systems supporting mission-critical DoD systems and operational objectives.
- Implement and manage routing, switching, firewall, and VPN technologies in secure environments.
- Provide advanced technical support and lead resolution of complex network, connectivity, and system integration issues impacting mission operations.
- Support installation, configuration, sustainment, and operational readiness of deployed network systems in both garrison and field environments.
- Interface with end users and government stakeholders to diagnose and resolve system issues.
- Ensure network systems comply with RMF, NIST, and DISA STIG cybersecurity requirements.
- Support continuous monitoring and compliance activities required to maintain system Authority to Operate (ATO).
- Monitor system performance, document configurations and procedures, support system upgrades and technology refresh efforts, and recommend improvements to enhance reliability and availability.
- Collaborate with engineering and cybersecurity teams and provide technical guidance or training to users as needed.
- Participate in operational planning, technical reviews, and customer briefings.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSA)
- Strong knowledge of networking fundamentals including routing, switching, VPNs, and firewalls.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in operational or field environments.
- Understanding of cybersecurity standards such as RMF, NIST, and DISA STIGs.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work directly with customers and stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in dynamic, mission-driven environments., * (REQUIRED) Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- (REQUIRED) 5-7 years of experience in network engineering, technical support, or related roles.
- (REQUIRED) Current or recently active (in the last 24 months) secret security clearance.
- (REQUIRED) Familiarity with secure environments and operational support requirements.
- (PREFERRED) Experience supporting DoD, aviation, or other mission-critical systems.
- (PREFERRED) Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, CCIE or similar.
- (PREFERRED) Experience within the aviation field is preferred.

- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds at times
Work Environment
- Temperature controlled office
- Exposure to operational and field environments, including customer sites
- Exposure to outdoor shop with potential extreme cold and hot temperatures and loud noises, * Bachelor's (Required), * Network engineering: 7 years (Required)

- aviation: 2 years (Preferred)
- Dual-VPN Routing architecture/design: 1 year (Required)
License/Certification:
