Job description

Data Engineer with experience in design, management, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure. The Data Engineer will be part of a multi-functional team supporting the Defense Logistics Agency R&D Applied Research & Testing Emerging Technologies (ARTET) Program. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting the Department of Defense in early-stage adoption of emerging and disruptive technologies. This is an outstanding opportunity to be a part of a team responsible for piloting and prototyping innovative logistics research solutions to sustain warfighter readiness and lethality.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret complex data sets using statistical analysis and machine learning algorithms, develop and implement data cleaning and transformation processes to prepare data for analysis, and proactively support clients in ad hoc data analysis requests by interfacing directly with them to understand and meet their needs, demonstrate agility in delivering results with a quick turnaround, aligning with both non-functional and functional business requirements.
  • Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain stable, secure, and scalable data engineering solutions and pipelines in support of data and analytics projects, including integrating new sources of data into DLA R&D ARTET central data warehouse, and moving data out to applications and affiliates.
  • Perform data cleansing, data integration, and data quality assurance activities to maintain the accuracy and integrity of large datasets in DLA business systems and applications.
  • Build required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources using AWS and SQL technologies.
  • Leverage big data technologies to efficiently process very large datasets and creating robust analytical tools that optimize the data pipeline, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics including operational efficiency and customer acquisition.
  • Work with stakeholders including the Executive, Product, Data Owners, and Design teams to support their data infrastructure needs while assisting with data-related technical issues.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Workflow management (operations management method)?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's Degree

  • 5 years of work experience as a Data Engineer, Data Scientist, Data Analyst, or similar role.
  • 5 year's experience using software and tools including big data tools like Kafka, Spark, Hive, and Hadoop HDFS; Microsoft SQL Server, relational NoSQL and SQL databases including Cassandra and Postgres;
  • 5 years experience with building and optimize data sets, 'big data' data pipelines and architectures. Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) data into a database.
  • 5 years experience with analytical tools like SAS Viya, Qlik, PowerBI, and Anaconda;
  • 5 years experience building processes that support data transformation, workload management, data structures, dependency, and metadata.
  • 5 years experience with DevSecOps factory applications like GitHub, Nexus Repository, and Nexus Firewall.
  • 5 years experience performing root cause analysis on external and internal processes and data.
  • 3-5 years experience with object function/object-oriented scripting languages including Python, R, Scala, C++, and Java. Strong analytical and communication skills.
  • 3-5 years workflow management and pipeline tools such as Airflow, Luigi and Azkaban;
  • 3-5 years AWS close services including Redshift, RDS, EMR and EC2; stream-processing systems like Spark-Streaming and Storm.
  • 3-5 years with Python, R, or other programming languages, especially for data manipulation and analysis, and ability to build and write clear code, document, maintain, and deploying sequences of automated processes with these tools and stored in a version control system.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • MUST HAVE a minimum of one certification from EACH of the following lists

  • DoD 8570 certifications are highly preferred: CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, or SSCP

  • DLA Approved certifications are highly preferred: AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associates (SAA 003 exam), AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, AWS Certified Security Specialty, Microsoft Certified Architect MS SQL Server, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104 exam) or other e following certifications are highly preferred: CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, or SSCP, * DoD or DLA experience

  • 3-5 years' experience working with DLA business enterprise solutions (e.g., EBS, FLIS, EDW, DAAS, WMS), DLA systems (e.g. WAWF, ETID, SAM, DIBBS), and Non-DLA systems (e.g., GSA, IGC, 3PL, Syncada, etc.) highly preferred.

  • Master's Degree

  • PMP certification

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and deliver a compliant product.

  • Analytical and energetic nature, driven desire for efficiency.

  • Effective problem identification and solution skills

  • Ability to document, plan and execute programs.

  • Strong ability to work within a team.
