Job description
Designs, analyzes, develops, modifies and evaluates electrical/electronic parts, components, sub-systems, algorithms, or integrated circuitry for electrical/electronic equipment and other hardware systems. Conducts feasibility studies, design margin and validation analyses and empirical testing on new and modified designs. Assists in architecture development and assessment. May direct support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication., * Develops organization-wide architectures and methodologies for electrical hardware design and development across multiple platforms and organizations within the Global Business Unit.
- Identifies and evaluates new technologies, innovations, and outsourced development partner relationships for alignment with technology roadmap and business value.
- Authors specifications, schematics, BOMs, prototype lab bring-up and maintenance, hardware test plans and reports.
- Makes key component decisions and trade-offs. Works with component engineering and commodity managers on external component selection and qualification.
- Collaborates with the following hardware engineering teams: signal integrity, power, thermal, PCB design, mechanical, DFM/DFT, lab technicians.
- Reviews/approves hardware test reports and support the following: EDVT, MDVT, NEBs, HALT, Safety, EMC teams
- Defines diagnostics tests for manufacturing and development.
- Works with program manager and engineering lead to provide project status. Keeps project schedule on track with key, crisp decision-making.
- Provides guidance and mentoring to less- experienced staff members to set an example of electrical hardware design and development innovation and excellence.
Requirements
- MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- MS/PhD with 10+ years of work experience with board design and/or FPGA design.
- Proficiency in very high speed, complex electrical circuit and schematic design.
- Understanding of core routing, edge routing, switching, forwarding, switch fabrics, WAN interfaces, pluggable optics (QSFP-DD, OSFP), campus and data center customer network design, testing, deployment and troubleshooting.
- Preferred experience with embedded CPU and SoC subsystems.
- Knowledge of systems design considerations from many angles including software, firmware, BIOS, PCB layout, signal integrity, mechanical, thermal, power, EMI compliance, manufacturability, testability, MTBF and COGS.
- Proficient in advanced design techniques for multiple-layer, high speed printed circuit boards.
- Experience with design and debug of PCIe, Ethernet, I2C, clocks, high speed SerDes and high speed memory interfaces.
- Hands-on experience and debugging proficiency using lab measurement equipment such as high speed oscilloscopes and bus protocol analyzers.
- Experience in a Unix/Linux environment preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Experience with Cadence System Capture tools.
- Python, Perl or TCL programming skills; scripting and test automation experience.
- Working understanding of component thermal specifications and characteristics.
- Experience with Microsoft co-pilot.
- Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
- Strong hardware debugging skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.
- Ability to effectively communicate product architectures, design proposals and negotiate options at business unit and executive levels.

- United States of America: Annual Salary USD 153,500 - 291,500 in Massachusetts The listed salary range reflects base salary. Variable incentives may also be offered."
