Job description
Location: Daily onsite presence at our San Jose headquarters in alignment with our Flexible Work policy with 10-20% of domestic and international travel.
Reports to: Principal Engineer
- Develop industry-leading test methodology and solutions
- Develop display-related standards, ensure alignment with organizations, e.g: VESA, ICDM, SMPTE
- Compare and analyze display performance to standardization targets, and recommend actions.
- Develop display metrology test patterns and test protocols; propose to IEC and ICDM as appropriate.
- Publish in peer-reviewed papers, conferences, and industry magazines that advances the display ecosystems.
- Communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audience..

Requirements
- Minimum of Master's of Science degree in Physics, Electrical, Optics, or Materials Engineering or related field OR PhD is preferred.
- 3-5 years of relevant industry experience.
- Required expertise with display metrology and related instruments (ie. Spectrometer, colorimeter)
- Experience in Python, Matlab (Octave), or C++
- Conversant with industry forums and standardization procedures is a strong plus.
- Travel internationally several times a year, such as conference presentation, internal standard meetings.

What You'll Do
Samsung Display's America R&D Lab is hiring for a Senior Systems Engineer, for a knowledgeable, self-driven individual contributor in field of display metrology and standardization. Our lab works closely with Samsung Display Co. (SDC), which supplies premium displays for smartphones, laptops, monitors, and TVs using industry leading technology. SDC is the first company in the world to mass produce flexible OLEDs, foldables and QD displays, creating the best displays that connect technology and people in a more valuable way.
This role is part of a dedicated team within a large global organization, advancing display metrology, product certifications, and standardization through collaboration with diverse stakeholders to deliver outcomes that directly impact company products.
