Job description
Fluvanna County is recruiting for an Information Technology Technician to provide implementation and support for end-user systems, Microsoft 365 applications and services, telephony/VoIP, network infrastructure, and other services within the County's IT Service Portfolio. This role serves as the primary point of contact for help desk requests and provides Tier 1 support while assisting with IT projects, server administration, and infrastructure support., * Serve as the primary contact for end-user help desk requests; resolve issues directly and escalate as needed.
- Provide Tier 1 support for Microsoft 365, desktops, applications, and VoIP phone systems.
- Install, configure, and maintain workstation operating systems to support business needs.
- Perform software installations and upgrades for operating systems and layered applications, following established IT policies and procedures.
- Perform scheduled and preventive maintenance on workstations; monitor and tune systems for optimal performance.
- Conduct routine hardware and software audits to ensure compliance with standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
- Assist with maintaining a hardware/software configuration database/library and supporting documentation.
- Assist with inventory and accountability of County hardware assets from procurement to disposal.
- Provide team support and maintenance for LAN hardware and software.
- Assist with implementation/support for server and workstation hardware, assigned servers, and related maintenance.
- Assist with the configuration, implementation, administration, and end-user support of Microsoft 365 (account provisioning, licensing, email, collaboration services) and related Windows/identity services (e.g., Active Directory, Group Policy, SAN/NAS).
- Assist with network infrastructure installation, maintenance, and monitoring.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of information technology principles and practices.
- Working knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems and Microsoft 365 applications/services.
- Ability to resolve help desk requests and incidents with a high degree of accuracy under limited supervision.
- Strong customer service approach and ability to build effective working relationships with County staff, officials, and contractors., * Any combination of education and experience equivalent to two (2) years of relevant experience in information technology or a related field., * At least one (1) year of experience in an IT role.
- Intermediate knowledge of Windows 11 and Microsoft 365 applications/services.
- Active certifications such as Microsoft 365, CompTIA A+ (or higher).
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with major coursework in information technology (or equivalent combination of education/experience).
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:
- Medium work requiring exertion of up to 50 lbs occasionally, 20 lbs frequently, and 10 lbs constantly to move objects.
- Physical demands may include climbing, balancing, stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motion.
