Job description
This hybrid role supports the design, deployment, and maintenance of AWS cloud infrastructure for critical actuarial and insurance applications. The engineer will work within a regulated financial services environment, ensuring compliance, security, and operational excellence. The position is contract-to-hire, with strong potential for conversion based on performance., * Implement and maintain AWS services (EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, RDS, Lambda) supporting actuarial tools, customer portals, and data platforms
- Support senior engineers in building Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or CloudFormation
- Monitor AWS resources and troubleshoot performance/access issues aligned with SLAs
- Participate in CI/CD workflows for internal applications and automation
- Contribute to documentation for audits, incident reviews, and regulatory compliance
- Collaborate with security, risk, and compliance teams to enforce tagging, access controls, and resource standards
- Continue building cloud knowledge through mentorship and structured training
Requirements
- 2+ years minimum of professional experience in AWS cloud engineering or DevOps
- Foundational understanding of core AWS services
- Basic experience with Linux or Windows servers in secure environments
- Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
- Understanding of networking concepts (VPCs, subnets, routing, firewalls, DNS)
- Experience using Git or similar version control tools
- Strong motivation to learn cloud engineering in a regulated industry, * Hands-on AWS experience through labs, projects, or internships involving regulated data or enterprise security
- Exposure to Terraform, CloudFormation, or other IaC technologies
- Familiarity with CI/CD concepts and pipeline automation
- Basic knowledge of containerization (Docker) or serverless architecture
- Background in application development (.NET / Windows) in a DevOps capacity
- Prior financial services experience
