The City of Springfield is seeking a visionary Information Systems Director to help shape the future of technology throughout the city. This is more than an IT leadership role; it is an opportunity to influence how a modern municipal organization operates, collaborates, and serves its community.
The Information Systems Director will serve as a key member of the City's leadership team and will be responsible for guiding the City's technology strategy, operations, and digital transformation efforts. This leader must possess both strong technical expertise and the leadership ability to partner with departments across the organization as a trusted service provider and strategic advisor.
Success in this role will require a commitment to strengthening the City's leadership philosophy centered on processes, relationships, and trust, while helping position the organization for the future through thoughtful innovation and modern technology solutions.

Positions Springfield as a data-driven organization by advancing enterprise data analytics, performance dashboards, and responsible AI applications that improve decision-making and service delivery.
Develops and implements a comprehensive Information Systems Master Plan that aligns technology investments with the City's strategic priorities and supports long-term operational excellence.
Strengthens relationships across departments by operating the Information Systems Department as a trusted service partner and delivering technology solutions that improve productivity and service delivery. Creates win-wins, not barriers.
Simplifies and modernizes the City's technology environment by evaluating existing systems, reducing redundant programs, and improving enterprise integration.
Builds and leads a high-performing team that embraces innovation, professional growth, accountability, and service.

Requirements
- The ideal candidate will bring a forward-thinking leadership style and the ability to view technology through both a strategic and organizational lens.
- This individual will demonstrate outside-the-box thinking, the initiative to improve existing systems and processes, and the ability to foster strong relationships across departments.
- The successful candidate must also demonstrate a deep commitment to leading and caring for their team, building a culture that values accountability, innovation, and professional development.
- This leader will also understand the evolving nature of the modern workforce and be prepared to embrace emerging workforce needs, including flexible and remote work environments where appropriate.
- This director must demonstrate ability to collaborate across department lines, identify best-in-class systems, and find mutual solutions., + Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Business or Public Administration or a related discipline;
AND
- Seven years of progressively responsible and diverse IT professional experience including managing IT projects as well as supervisory and management level experience, preferably in an IS environment.
PREFERRED
- Master's Degree in Business or Public Administration.
Licensing/Certification
- If operating a vehicle for purposes of completing job duties, must possess a valid driver's license, + High School Diploma or GED equivalent

- Master's Degree, How many years of experience do you have progressively responsible and diverse IT professional experience including managing IT projects as well as supervisory and management level experience, preferably in an IS environment?

This Director role offers a flexible total compensation package including annual performance increases, city-sponsored benefits (such as a defined benefit retirement plan), generous leave time, and more. You can look at that here! Anticipated minimum starting salary is $185,000, however compensation is flexible based on experience and skills.
