Are you a skilled IT professional who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and supporting mission-driven work? The Oregon Youth Authority (OYA) is seeking a Senior Principal IT Support Specialist to help ensure the reliability, performance, and security of the systems that support our operations. In this role, you will provide comprehensive technical support for client/server hardware, software, and network infrastructure at OYA facilities and offices across the state.
As a key member of the Technical Services team, you will collaborate with IT and program staff to maintain critical systems, troubleshoot and resolve high-priority issues, and support day-to-day operations. Your work will include diagnosing hardware and software issues, deploying system updates, and providing user support and training. Your expertise will play an important role in enabling staff to effectively serve the youth in our care.
We are looking for a proactive, customer-focused professional with strong experience in technical support, system maintenance, and tools such as MECM, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365. Top Duties of the Position:
- Provide statewide technical support; diagnose and resolve complex issues; perform hardware and software repairs; configure enterprise systems; provide user training; and deliver weekly on-site support at MacLaren, plus remote/on-site assistance to southern Oregon sites.
- Install, modify, and maintain systems lacking established procedures; resolve security incidents; monitor system stability; support LAN/WAN environments; and ensure operational consistency across all OYA facilities.
- Deploy and integrate Windows systems; conduct technical research and analysis; perform system testing; create documentation; address compatibility issues; and complete on-site work at MacLaren and southern Oregon locations., * Hybrid Telework: This position is primarily based at OYA's Central Office in Salem and provides direct technical support to staff statewide. The position performs regular on-site support at MacLaren Youth Correctional Facility, approximately one day per week, and provides remote and periodic in-person support to OYA field offices and residential programs in southern Oregon. Travel is required to ensure consistent delivery of customer assistance, operations support, and implementation of technology solutions across geographically dispersed sites.

Requirements
(a) Four (4) years of information systems experience in professional hands-on experience troubleshooting, and independently resolving moderately complex PC hardware and software problems, (b) An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, OR completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field; AND two (2) years of information systems experience in professional hands-on experience troubleshooting, and independently resolving moderately complex PC hardware and software problems
OR
(c) A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field may substitute for all of the above.
Special Requirements:
Driving is an essential function of this position. A valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s)., * Demonstrated experience implementing and managing IT security protocols, including patch management, intrusion/virus remediation, system hardening, and adherence to security standards: ability to identify and mitigate risks in networked environments.
- Advanced ability to diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software and communication system issues using error codes, performance analysis, and diagnostic tools, including resolving recurring or widespread problems.
- Proficient in supporting, configuring, and troubleshooting Windows desktop environments and Microsoft 365 tools, including account management, system administration, configuration changes, and deployment of enterprise applications.
- Demonstrated experience installing, configuring, and maintaining systems, including operating systems, networked devices, and distributed technologies; ability to perform upgrades, version compatibility analysis, and system integration across multiple locations.
- Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to users, provide formal and informal training, created documentation, and collaborate with staff statewide; experience supporting users at varied technical skill levels in remote and on-site environments.
- Proficiency in imaging, deploying, and managing systems using Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM/SCCM) or similar tools; experience creating, maintaining, and applying standardized workstation builds., We do not offer Visa sponsorship.
