Job description
Network Engineer Advanced, Indiana University (Indianapolis, IN). Apply comprehensive and advanced knowledge to establish and standardize procedures for design, evaluation, development, and deployment of network system software and hardware technology; identify and resolve complex problems and assignments in providing network operational support; perform systems studies which include feasibility, conceptual design, cost/benefit analysis, and implementation planning to support the growth of IU-managed networks; lead improvement of network performance/reliability; lead network implementation and upgrade plans and schedules; provide detailed explanations for purchasing, installing, and housing new and upgraded network systems and components; lead project teams in network system design sessions, evaluate service requests, estimate resources, and analyze design and development solutions; work closely with customers, partners, and vendors to ensure timely design and delivery of network systems and services to meet customer needs; and, mentor junior staff.
Requirements
Requires Bachelors degree in Computer Science or closely related field plus 5 years demonstrated proficiency with network engineering. Requires demonstrated proficiency in: enhancing monitoring tools, including NAGIOS and SNMP; fiber optics technologies, including CDWM and DWDM; implement routing protocols, including BGP, IS-IS and OSPF; network design and enhancement projects, including MPLS and EVPN deployment; and, VPN implementation and management. Requires CCNP Certification. May permit telecommuting.
