The Department of Management, Information Systems and Business Analytics (MISBA) invites applications for two tenure-track positions (Assistant Professor). We particularly welcome applicants whose work aligns with one or more of the following complementary areas: (1) Enterprise AI, including the technical integration and functional implementation of AI to drive innovation and efficiency within core business domains such as accounting, finance, human resources, management, marketing, operations, etc.; and (2) AI Governance, Risk, and Compliance, focused on the foundational frameworks for AI trust and integrity. This includes developing organizational oversight models, accountability structures, and risk mitigation strategies to ensure the ethical, legal, and responsible deployment of AI systems in regulated environments. The anticipated start date will be August 2026, however, there maybe flexibility for the position to start January 2027., + Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, with a primary appointment in the Management, Information Systems, and Business Analytics (MISBA) Department, and collaborate on developing and delivering AI-related courses and content within the department and across the College of Business.
- Develop new courses and enhance existing curriculum, particularly in areas related to artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.
- Establish and maintain an active program of scholarly research, with publications in high-quality peer-reviewed journals consistent with AACSB expectations, including research related to AI and its application in business and organizational contexts.
- Collaborate with faculty within the college and across the university on research, curriculum, and interdisciplinary initiatives.
- Provide student advising and mentorship, including supervision of undergraduate and graduate research and applied projects.
- Engage with industry partners to support experiential learning opportunities such as applied AI projects, consulting engagements, hackathons, or case competitions.
- Contribute to departmental and college service activities, including curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation efforts.
- Actively engage in university and community service consistent with the mission of the institution., The ASR contains the current security and safety-related policy statements, emergency preparedness and evacuation information, crime prevention and sexual assault prevention information, and drug and alcohol prevention programming. The ASR also contains statistics of Clery Act crimes for Sacramento State for the last three (3) calendar years. Requirements

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a business discipline, Computer Science, or a closely related field, with demonstrated expertise in artificial intelligence applications. Applicants with J.D. will be considered for the AI governance, risk, and compliance position only. The doctoral degree must be from a program accredited by AACSB International, AMBA, EQUIS, or an equivalent accreditation body. ABD applicants will be considered; however, all requirements for the doctoral degree must be completed by December 2026 to remain eligible for continued employment. Experience:

Record of, or potential for, research and peer review publications in AI, Information Systems, Business Analytics, Management, Business Law, or related fields.

Capacity to develop an independent research program and pursue external funding.

Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Information Systems, Business Analytics, Management, or Business Law, and to contribute to the development of AI-related curriculum.

Familiarity with AI applications in industry and real-world scenarios.

Ability to develop and teach new courses in emerging areas of AI.

A record of and/or commitment to, working with a diverse student population and contributing to inclusive excellence in education.

Ability and willingness to develop and enhance curriculum and/or course design and assessment.

A record of, or potential for, developing relationships with the business community and engaging in projects and/or consulting.

Willingness and ability to teach in multiple instructional modalities, including in-person, hybrid, and hyflex formats.

Ability to teach large classes.

Ability to develop graduate and undergraduate research projects/lead graduate and undergraduate teams.

A record of, or potential for, effective collaboration with peers within the college and across the university.

Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated teaching, research, and/or industry experience in artificial intelligence applications in business contexts.

Expertise in the governance, legal, regulatory, or compliance aspects of AI in business settings is desirable.
