Job description

  • Requires effective communication with internal and external customers.
  • Requires effective time management and task prioritization skills.
  • Requires some local travel and use of a personal vehicle.
  • May require working beyond a standard 40-hour work week to include evenings and weekends.
  • Requires an on-call rotation to provide after-hours support.
  • The incumbent may be considered "essential personnel" during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.

Requirements

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field of study.

  • Requires a minimum of five (5) years of full-time equivalent experience in configuring routers, switches, firewall policies and access controls to support data networks.

  • Requires a minimum of one year of work experience configuring and deploying enterprise wireless.

  • A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate (JNCIA), Palo Alto Networks Certified Security Administrator (PCNSA) or other industry standard certification is preferred.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driver's record based on the City of Hampton's criteria.
