Job description

Support mission-critical missile defense network infrastructure-engineering, maintaining, and securing high-availability systems that enable BMDS OPIR Architecture, Enterprise Sensor Lab, and Persistent Infrared Testbed operations. A Day in the Life - What you'll do

  • Support the design, implementation, and sustainment of network architectures across classified and unclassified environments.
  • Assist senior system administrators and network subject matter experts in maintaining critical network infrastructure and operational systems.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot network performance using knowledge of routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.
  • Support network testing activities utilizing routers, switches, and firewalls to validate system performance and reliability.
  • Monitor and analyze TCP/IP behavior, network communications, and traffic patterns to identify and resolve issues.
  • Maintain and support high-availability network systems ensuring continuous mission operations.
  • Develop and maintain network diagrams and documentation using tools such as Microsoft Visio and PowerPoint.
  • Participate in operational testing events and support after-hours program activities as required.
  • Collaborate across engineering teams to support complex, multi-domain network environments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university.
  • 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree or 3 years with a Master's degree or 1 year with a PhD or 9 years of experience in lieu of a degree (Level III)
  • 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree or 6 years with a Master's degree or 4 years with a PhD or 12 years of experience in lieu of a degree (Level IV)
  • Current DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA)
  • Experience with network architecture, engineering, design, implementation, and testing
  • Familiarity with routers, switches, firewalls, DNS, and data encryption technologies
  • Strong understanding of network communication protocols and troubleshooting methodologies
  • Ability to communicate effectively through technical documentation and presentations
  • Ability to work collaboratively within high-performing engineering teams
  • Ability to travel up to 10% to support mission requirements
  • Active in-scope DoD Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility required at time of application
  • Willingness to undergo a counter-intelligence polygraph

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise with Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switches
  • Experience with high-availability configurations on switches and firewalls
  • Experience configuring firewalls including access policies, NAT, and troubleshooting
  • Experience troubleshooting complex network issues using tools such as traceroute, ping, netcat, netstat, tcpdump, firewall logs, and packet capture tools such as Wireshark
  • Experience creating and maintaining network topologies using Visio
  • Experience documenting and implementing network device STIGs
  • Basic Linux system navigation experience
  • Experience with Cisco ISE administration
  • Experience with static and multicast routing
