Job description
The IT Administrator is a vital technical role responsible for the daily operation, integrity, security, and reliability of Providence Academy's technology systems. This position blends hands-on user support with systems, network, and security responsibilities and works closely with the Director of IT to ensure seamless technology access for students, faculty, and staff., IT Administrator supports and maintains wired and wireless network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, VLANs, and access points. The role assists with server and virtualization environments, including Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP, and monitors system performance, availability, and security across all campuses. Network troubleshooting, basic & advanced firewall configuration support, and proactive issue identification are core responsibilities, with escalation to the Director of IT as appropriate. Network, Systems, and Infrastructure Support are at the core of the role.
User and Endpoint Support
The IT Administrator serves as a primary escalation point for complex technical issues requiring advanced troubleshooting. Responsibilities include deploying, managing, and supporting staff computers, student devices and tablets, classroom technology, projectors, and interactive displays. A full shift into Microsoft's Intune environment will take place for a more optimal deployment method. The role requires empathetic, professional support of faculty, staff, and students, and consistent documentation of all work performed. Microsoft's Intune environment is preferred for relatable experience but not required. Training on the platform and the environment will be required if no experience exists.
Security and Data Integrity
The IT Administrator assists in implementing and maintaining cybersecurity sectors, including antivirus and endpoint security solutions, access controls, data backups, and recovery procedures. The role includes identifying potential security breaches, reporting violations of technology use agreements, and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive student, family, and employee data. Compliance with applicable educational data privacy requirements, including FERPA, is required. Staff & Faculty including the IT Department are required to keep all confidential and sensitive data like PPI always secured.
Cloud, Identity, and Device Management
The IT Administrator assists with the administration of Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange, SharePoint, OneDrive, and user permissions. Responsibilities include supporting Active Directory user lifecycle management, group policies, and access controls. The role also supports Apple devices and iPads used for academic and testing purposes. Experience with Apple School Manager and Mosyle is helpful but not required, experience with Microsoft 365 and its environment is required, however.
Collaboration, Communication, and Reporting
The IT Administrator works closely with the Director of IT on planning, system upgrades, audits, and technology improvements. Clear and professional communication with faculty, staff, students, and leadership is essential. The role includes providing regular status updates, timelines, and documentation, as well as maintaining accurate technology inventory records.
Collaboration and Teamwork
The IT Administrator establishes and maintains positive working relationships with all members of the school community. The role collaborates with senior leadership, academic leadership, and administrative team members and participates cooperatively in projects as directed by the Director of IT or Director of Operations. Other duties may be assigned as needed to support school operations.

Participation in relevant training, conferences, and professional meetings is encouraged as approved. The role requires staying current on best practices in K-12 educational technology and IT systems.
Data Security and Remote Work Protocol
All Staff and Faculty, including the IT Department, are required to keep all confidential and sensitive data-specifically Personally Identifiable Information (PII)-secured and always protected.
In the event that work-related tasks involving sensitive data carry over into a new day or week, please be advised of the following:
Off-Site Authorization: Working on sensitive items or tasks away from school grounds is strictly prohibited without explicit authorization.
Approval Process: Only the Director of IT has the authority to grant approval for remote work involving such data.
Compliance: This protocol is in place to ensure we remain compliant with data protection standards and safeguard our institutional information.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
The role regularly operates in standard office and school environments and requires the ability to lift and move items weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. The position involves frequent sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, and viewing computer screens, as well as occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, and stretching. The role requires stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions and flexibility to adjust work hours to support projects, events, and urgent technical needs.
Terms of Employment
This is a 12-month position, with a weekly schedule created at the discretion of the Director of IT. While most hours will typically fall between 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, the role requires flexibility, including occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends, and special events to meet departmental and school needs. Example: M-W 7:30am - 3:30pm, Thru - Fri 8am - 5pm.
Requirements
Do you have a Associate's degree?, The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical competence, patience, excellent communication skills, and a service-oriented mindset, while also showing initiative, flexibility, and a desire to grow professionally in a mission-driven educational environment.
Mission and Faith Alignment
The IT Administrator must be a born-again Christian who knows the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior (John 3:3; 1 Peter 1:23) and affirms the Bible as the inspired, inerrant Word of God (II Timothy 3:16). The candidate must be active in a local church with a record of service and/or leadership and must agree with and support Providence Academy's Mission Statement, Philosophy, and Statement of Faith., The position requires an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, along with a minimum of three (3) years of relatable IT experience. Active CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+ certifications are required. Microsoft 365 & Cybersecurity certifications are preferred but not required at hire; continued renewal certification and professional development are expected as part of the role.
Candidates must demonstrate strong time-management skills, the ability to document projects, tasks, and support tickets, and a high level of dependability and integrity. The role requires patience, active listening, problem-solving skills, curiosity, resourcefulness, persistence, and attention to detail.

- Dental insurance, The core hours for this 12-month contract are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, unless otherwise approved by the Director of IT for specific project needs. Reliability is a key performance metric; therefore, a five-minute grace period is permitted for infrequent use only. Any arrival later, unless approved by management, will initiate the progressive disciplinary process, all of which is documented: starting with a formal verbal warning, followed by a written final warning for the second occurrence. A third occurrence will lead to immediate disciplinary suspension and a review for contract termination.
Three (3) weeks of unpaid vacation may be selected from the following school break periods, subject to approval by the Director of IT:

The position includes nine (9) paid holidays:

The position also includes forty (40) additional hours of PTO to be used throughout the contracted year on regularly scheduled workdays while the IT Support Specialist is on duty from September through July, with prior supervisor's approval. PTO may not be used in August.
Annual evaluation will be conducted by the Director of IT.
