Senior Backend Engineer - AWS Focus

• Lead backend development efforts with a focus on AWS serverless technologies.
• Build and maintain Lambda functions, Step Functions, and data processing pipelines using JavaScript (and future Java-based batch processes).
• Develop Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using CloudFormation; Terraform experience is acceptable and transferable.
• Coordinate work across internal and external teams, ensuring alignment and clarity.
• Support migration initiatives replacing legacy systems with modern cloud-based solutions.
• Understand existing legacy data flows (including Informatica ETL) and help design new, resilient architectures.
• Work with DynamoDB and other NoSQL technologies to support document generation workflows.
• Contribute to containerization efforts, including future CloudFormation templates for ECS tasks.
• Collaborate closely with business partners to understand data requirements for customer-facing documents (letters, contracts, statements). Participate in two interview rounds with technical leads and demonstrate strong communication and leadership potential.

• Strong backend engineering experience, with depth in JavaScript or Java (Java will be used for future batch processing).
• AWS expertise, including:
• Lambda
• Step Functions
• ECS
• DynamoDB
• Core AWS concepts such as availability, resilience, and serverless fundamentals
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience using CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Experience with microservices or willingness to expand into that area.
• Ability to navigate and understand legacy systems and propose modern solutions.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate work across teams.
• Leadership qualities with the potential to grow into a tech lead role. Fully backend-focused; no React or frontend experience required.
