Job description
Family And Children Electronic System (FACES) is looking for a highly motivated person to assist in enhancing and maintaining the FACES system. This is a technical position that maintains all components of the FACES system across multiple platforms, languages, and technologies. This position works independently and as part of a team to perform software analysis, design and maintenance.
- Authorization to work in the United States is a prerequisite of employment. The Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) will not sponsor applicants for work visas.
- The salary indicated represents a base pay rate. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay.
This position is with the Office of Administration, Information Technology Services Division (OA-ITSD) supporting the Missouri Department of Social Services (DSS).

This position will report to a supervisor within the FACES group. The successful candidate will:
- Continually deliver high quality solutions that meet customer expectations and provide outstanding customer service.
- Be involved in all aspects of the System Development Life Cycle (Planning, Analysis, Design, Development, Testing, Implementation, Maintenance, Documentation) while adhering to all ITSD-DSS development standards.
- Learn and develop new skills through various training opportunities.
- Ensure secure coding and comprehensive testing of all development work to achieve the highest quality releases possible.
- Document and work to completion assigned tickets including bug fixes and enhancements to various system components.
- Become familiar with the business processes that govern how the FACES system components are developed.
- Mentor less experienced members of the team.
- Participate in weekend and evenings on call support rotation after an initial training period.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills & the ability to communicate effectively with customers, peers, and management is necessary.
- Aptitude and desire to quickly learn new technologies and effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical people.
- Ability to work on multiple projects or tasks at the same time in a fast-paced environment and adapt easily to changing tasks.
- Ability to research, analyze and test complex coding and data components to debug issues, as well as determine and code solutions that follow business requirements and FACES programming standards.
- Experience with COBOL, DB2 and SQL is highly desirable.
- Experience with JavaScript, ASP/.Net, VB.NET, CSS, JCL and TSO is desirable.
- Experience with the concepts of Project Management is a plus.
