Job description

ODME Solutions is seeking a Mid-Level Systems Engineer to support the Acquisition Readiness (AR) and Performance Assessment (PA) Departments at NSWC Corona under the AR-PA program. These departments deliver the Navy's primary Independent Assessment mission: providing impartial, data-driven evaluation of acquisition programs and warfighting capabilities.

In this role, you'll support technical capabilities across systems engineering, DevSecOps, data workflows, automation, and software integration. Candidates with additional data engineering experience will be able to enhance AR-PA's analytics, assessment quality, and reporting automation.

What You'll DoSystems Engineering & Readiness Assessment (Primary)

  • Conduct systems engineering and analytical assessments supporting the Independent Assessment mission.
  • Evaluate Reliability, Maintainability, and Availability (RM&A) metrics using Navy datasets and logs.
  • Analyze failure events and performance data for single systems, multi-system architectures, and system-of-systems.
  • Develop, document, and maintain reliability models, scoring criteria, and failure logic used in readiness evaluations.
  • Research and learn Navy platforms, ship classes, combat systems, sensors, weapons, and mission threads.
  • Use Navy or COTS readiness assessment tools to analyze system performance and readiness posture.
  • Follow established NSWC Corona data editing, review, validation, and extraction processes.
  • Integrate and reconcile multiple Navy databases to produce accurate system readiness assessments.
  • Collaborate closely with AR and PA technical teams to support readiness products, briefings, and analytical findings.

Valuable (Optional) Data Engineering Skills

  • Develop or support ETL/ELT workflows for readiness datasets.
  • Write SQL for data modeling, transformation, and analysis.
  • Support dashboards and analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau) used for leadership reports.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or related technical field
  • Security+ Certification
  • Active DoD Security Clearance

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with Navy organizations, ship classes, sensors, weapons, and system architectures
  • Knowledge of probability theory applied to reliability or RM&A modeling
  • Experience analyzing Navy failure data, maintenance logs, test events, or operational performance data
  • Prior work supporting NSWC Corona, NAVSEA, NAVAIR, or other DoD assessment organizations
  • Experience with database querying/SQL, data modeling, or dataset optimization
  • Knowledge of system-of-systems engineering concepts and mission thread analysis
  • Relevant Operating System Certification (Windows, Red Hat, AWS, etc.)
  • 0-3 years of experience in systems engineering, analytical engineering, reliability engineering, or similar technical roles
  • Experience with:
  • Linux/UNIX or Windows system administration
  • Scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell)
  • Working with engineering datasets or technical data sources
  • Power BI/Tableau dashboarding experience
