Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Cloud Engineer to join our team in the greater DMV area, supporting the Army National Guard.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and optimize enterprise cloud infrastructure (IaaS/PaaS) to meet DoD/Army security, performance, and resiliency requirements.
- Lead cloud migration and modernization efforts: assess workloads, develop migration plans, execute cutovers, and validate post-migration performance.
- Implement and maintain automation and DevSecOps practices: infrastructure as code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, and release automation.
- Ensure cloud environments comply with RMF/ATO processes, STIG/CSG requirements, logging/monitoring, IAM/Zero Trust controls, and continuous monitoring.
- Develop technical designs, CONOPS, cybersecurity strategies, test plans, and proof-of-concept prototypes to validate solutions.
- Drive capacity planning, performance benchmarking, cost optimization, and operational runbooks for cloud services.
- Coordinate cross-functional integration with network, security, application, and operations teams to ensure interoperability and operational handover.
- Support classified and unclassified enclave engineering, sustainment, and evidence preparation for authorization/accreditation.
- Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and recommend pilots or adoption pathways to advance modernization objectives.
- Provide technical leadership during rapid-response projects, troubleshooting, and incident remediation.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years with BS/BA; Minimum of 6 years with MS/MA; Minimum of 3 years with PhD
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
- Candidate must meet ONE:
- Master's degree or higher in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, Information Technology, or related field; OR
- Equivalent documented experience in enterprise cloud engineering within regulated or DoD contexts.
- IT/cloud engineering experience with 4+ years in cloud architecture/implementation and migration.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS/Azure/GCP), IaC tools (Terraform/CloudFormation), CI/CD tooling, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), and cloud security controls.
- Strong knowledge of RMF/ATO workflows, STIG/CSG application to cloud services, logging/monitoring solutions, and IAM/Zero Trust patterns.
- Proven skills in automation, scripting (Python/PowerShell), performance tuning, and operational runbook development.
Desired Qualifications
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Professional or Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
- Prior DoD/Army/ARNG cloud implementation experience; familiarity with DISA/DoDIN guidance.
- Experience with container orchestration at scale, service mesh, cloud cost optimization, and multi-cloud/hybrid federation.
- Demonstrated ability to produce CONOPS, ROMs/COAs, and executive-level briefings
Benefits & conditions
$104,000 - $166,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
