Job description
We are seeking a talented Embedded Test Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role primarily involves working with embedded software, understanding hardware functionality, and conducting thorough troubleshooting and testing. You will be responsible for setting up devices on testing fixtures, analyzing issues, and collaborating with the team to resolve them. This position requires you to conduct tests using various tools, generate test reports, and, when necessary, rework PCBs by instructing technicians or electrical engineers on necessary changes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct embedded software testing and troubleshooting.
- Set up and connect devices to testing fixtures.
- Analyze and report on issues discovered during testing.
- Conduct tests using tools like encoders, decoders, signal generators, and monitors.
- Check DC power and report findings.
- Collaborate with team members to resolve issues.
- Generate detailed test reports.
- Rework PCBs when necessary, including instructing technicians on soldering tasks.
- Utilize automation consoles for test execution and configuration.
Requirements
- Strong video experience or extensive experience in embedded systems testing.
- Ability to analyze PCB boards and high-speed signals.
- Proficiency with oscilloscopes.
- Experience programming in Python for basic automation.
- Understanding of embedded software and firmware testing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- 5+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience with network testing and interfacing with fiber, Ethernet, etc.
- Hardware testing experience at the board level.
- Soldering skills.
- Experience using digital analyzers, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.
- Ability to read and understand schematics.
Benefits & conditions
This position is primarily on-site with flexibility. You may work from home occasionally, such as for appointments or potentially on Fridays, although this is not guaranteed. Core working hours are from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, allowing flexibility in arrival and departure times as long as you complete an 8-hour workday. The team includes 3-5 electrical engineers, 3-5 firmware and software engineers, 3 test engineers, and 2 mechanical engineers, all working on-site. Additionally, there is an OEM team of 15 members based in Taiwan.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Torrance, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $58.00/hr.
