We are seeking a Technical Engineer Lead to serve as the senior technical consultant and hands-on guide for an Advanced Analytics Engineering team within a large enterprise technology organization. You will own the lifecycle (design, upgrade, security, and support) of a multi-platform enterprise analytics ecosystem serving 500+ users across multiple lines of business (e.g., claims, business insights, personal insurance). The role blends deep infrastructure engineering across Python/Conda, SAS, and R; AWS platform enablement; security & governance; Disaster Recovery (DR) coordination; and production pipeline signoff for high-stakes analytics workloads. You'll mentor engineers, partner with business stakeholders, and drive strategic modernization (including AI-assisted tooling) to improve reliability, velocity, and developer experience., In this role, the Technical Engineer Lead serves as the senior technical authority supporting a large, enterprise-wide advanced analytics engineering organization within a major U.S. insurance carrier. This position oversees the end-to-end engineering lifecycle for multi-platform analytics environments-including Python/Conda, SAS, and R-spanning Linux, Windows, macOS, and AWS. You will guide the architecture and evolution of analytics platforms for 500+ users, ensuring reliability, security, performance, and standardization across systems. The role includes leading platform upgrades, coordinating enterprise-level security remediation, optimizing cloud-based analytics environments, enabling identity and access integrations, and driving modernization initiatives such as AI-assisted engineering. Additional responsibilities include Disaster Recovery coordination, governance for production pipeline signoff, and mentoring engineers on best practices in infrastructure, DevOps, observability, and automation., * Provide senior-level technical leadership, architectural guidance, and troubleshooting expertise for all analytics platform engineering activities.
- Lead lifecycle management for Python/Conda, SAS, and R ecosystems across Linux, Windows, macOS, and AWS environments.
- Oversee enterprise-wide upgrades for SAS (Linux/Windows), R (server and desktop), Condaplus Python, web services, and platform dependencies.
- Manage configuration, performance, and connectivity for analytics platforms, including ODBC/DB connectivity, SAS mid-tier/IIS integration, and RStudio Server.
- Govern security practices using tools such as Nexus IQ, SSL/TLS certificate management, and IdentityIQ automation for access provisioning.
- Maintain and enhance observability solutions, including custom monitoring dashboards, alerting systems, memory/process governance scripts, and filesystem health checks.
- Design and support AWS environments including EC2 analytics images (AMIs), S3 governance, Athena, and Terraform Enterprise provisioning workflows.
- Serve as Disaster Recovery Coordinator, maintaining readiness, documentation, and execution of DR testing across analytics platforms.
- Act as the production pipeline signoff owner, ensuring rigorous testing, validation, and staging for drivers, patches, and platform upgrades.
- Develop and maintain internal Flask/Python applications and the engineering portal using Nginx, Gunicorn, and systemd.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams using ServiceNow, SharePoint, and Agile/Scrumban methodologies; advocate for AI-driven engineering practices such as GitHub Copilot integration., * Python/Conda (Miniforge/Miniconda) distribution management, environment standardization, and secure package governance (Nexus IQ/Repository).
- SAS 9.4 (Linux/RHEL) and SAS Enterprise Guide (Windows), including upgrades, performance tuning, SAS/ACCESS connectivity (Teradata/DB2/Oracle), and IIS integration.
- R ecosystem: RStudio Server, R versioning across OS, Rtools on Windows, CRAN mirroring/proxying, and Git-based workflows.
- AWS core services (EC2, S3, Athena) and AMI creation/maintenance for analytics/ML.
- Linux administration (RHEL/Ubuntu), Windows Server, web tier tools (Nginx, Gunicorn, IIS), and systemd.
- Identity & Security: AD integration on Linux (SSSD/Quest VAS), Kerberos, PAM; SSL/TLS; secure CI/CD and artifact workflows.
- Observability & Operations: Server monitoring, OOM prevention, filesystem health checks, capacity analysis, and proactive incident alerting.
- Governance & DR: Production pipeline signoff, change management, and Disaster Recovery planning/testing.
- Excellent cross-functional communication with engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders; strong documentation and change communication skills.
Requirements
Key Skills: Python (Conda/Miniforge), R/RStudio Server, SAS 9.4/EG, AWS (EC2, S3, AMIs), Linux/Windows server administration, authentication/security (Kerberos, SSSD, PAM, Nexus IQ), analytics platform engineering, * Proven leadership as a principal/senior engineer for enterprise analytics platforms serving hundreds of users across mixed OS (Linux/Windows/macOS) and hybrid cloud (AWS)., * Experience with Terraform Enterprise (TFE) or similar IaC in regulated enterprises; familiarity with AWS tagging standards and cost/governance controls.
- Background with GPFS (or equivalent shared storage), Connect:Direct (or equivalent managed file transfer), and secure email relays for ops alerting.
- Experience hosting internal Flask/Python apps behind Nginx/Gunicorn with SSO.
- Familiarity with IBM SPSS, PyCharm, KNIME, and SAS Stored Processes/mid-tier administration.
- Demonstrated success reducing incidents via observability, guardrails, and staged rollout strategies.
- Advocacy for AI-assisted engineering (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to uplift team productivity.
