Job description

We are recruiting on behalf of a large, well-established organization within the insurance and financial services industry that is undergoing significant technology modernization. This organization operates at enterprise scale, supports mission-critical systems, and places a strong emphasis on security, reliability, and cloud-native innovation. As a Senior Kubernetes Platform Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, building, and operating enterprise Kubernetes platforms on AWS. You will act as a technical lead, help shape cloud-native platform strategy, and support development teams by delivering reliable, scalable, and secure Kubernetes capabilities. This role is well suited for an experienced platform engineer who enjoys ownership, technical leadership, and contributing to large-scale cloud transformation initiatives., * Design, build, and operate scalable, enterprise-grade Kubernetes platforms running on AWS.

  • Lead the architecture and implementation of cloud-native solutions using Kubernetes, AWS services, and infrastructure as code.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Terraform modules for Kubernetes clusters, AWS infrastructure, and shared platform services.
  • Serve as a technical lead on platform engineering initiatives, guiding implementation decisions and resolving complex technical challenges.
  • Partner with application development teams to understand requirements and enable efficient, reliable deployment of containerized applications.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for Kubernetes, containerization, and AWS services across the organization.
  • Own platform services at scale, making decisions related to modernization, optimization, and long-term technical direction.
  • Implement and maintain observability capabilities, including monitoring, logging, and alerting for platform health and workloads.
  • Collaborate with security partners to apply and maintain Kubernetes and cloud security best practices.
  • Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, promoting knowledge sharing and best practices.
  • Support platform releases and participate in on-call or after-hours incident response as needed.
  • Continuously evaluate new Kubernetes features, AWS offerings, and cloud-native technologies to improve platform maturity.
  • Document platform architecture, operational procedures, and standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Minimum of three years of hands-on experience operating Kubernetes in production environments.
  • Minimum of three years of AWS cloud engineering experience.
  • Strong experience with infrastructure as code, including hands-on use of Terraform.
  • Proven experience designing, deploying, and operating containerized systems at scale.
  • Solid understanding of Kubernetes fundamentals, including cluster administration, networking, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience working in collaborative, Agile, DevOps, or platform engineering teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make architectural decisions with broad technical impact.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse audiences., * Five or more years of production Kubernetes experience, including optimization and performance tuning.
  • Deep knowledge of AWS services such as EKS, EC2, VPC, IAM, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, and Elastic Load Balancing.
  • Advanced Terraform expertise, including reusable module design and management of complex environments.
  • Container ecosystem experience, including Docker, container networking, and container security best practices.
  • Experience with CNCF tools and Kubernetes add-ons such as cert-manager, ingress controllers, autoscaling, policy engines, and cluster management tooling.
  • Background in platform engineering, including high availability design, automation, and operational excellence.
  • CI/CD experience using tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, Argo CD, Flux, or similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with microservices architectures, API gateways, service discovery, and distributed tracing.
  • Observability experience with tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, Datadog, or similar platforms.
  • Experience with Helm charts and Kubernetes operators.
  • Strong understanding of Kubernetes and cloud networking concepts.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership, including mentorship and influencing technical decisions across teams.
  • Curiosity and willingness to continuously learn new cloud-native technologies and evolving best practices.
