The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is the integrating element of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to collectively see the battle develop, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats across all ranges and phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks, integrates, and synchronizes autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is an integral part of all system ground and flight tests that verify and exercise current and future missile defense system capabilities., This position is for a Software Engineer on the C2BMC JEMINI program supporting the development of future missile defense capabilities. The candidate will primarily be responsible for software development using Java., * Interact with other people using good verbal and written communication skills
- Work independently or with a small group
- Being flexible in a highly dynamic and ever-changing environment
- Provide in-depth analysis and technical support for a large, distributed system written in Java
- Perform complex problem resolution, design, development, testing, integration, and user support for a large code baseline
- Follow specifications to develop or modify code functionality.
- Assist with design, benchmark testing, debugging, and documentation
- Interface with other system support groups to resolve problems, set standards, and improve overall efficiency of the system
- Design, code, test, and implement tools for automation
Requirements
- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master's degree in a related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or 12 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
- Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start with the ability to be cleared at TS/SCI security clearance
- 3+ years of Java experience
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a rapid-paced, team environment
- Knowledge of software practices and coding standards
- Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to review performance issues, identify root cause, recommend, and develop a solution, * Applicants with a current, active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+ CE, CCNA-Security, CySA+, CND, etc.) at the time of application, is highly desired. The candidate is responsible for maintaining their DoD 8140 certification throughout the entire contract period
- Applicants with a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application with the eligibility to be read into SCI is highly preferred
- Experience working as part of an Agile team
- Familiarity with Java Spring
- Familiarity with containerization tools such as Docker/Kubernetes
- Knowledge of server side development and message passing
- Experience developing enterprise applications
- Good working knowledge of MS Office products
- Flexibility and willingness to take on unanticipated tasks
- Use of common software development and management tools such as Git, Nexus, JIRA, Confluence, Maven or Gradle and Eclipse
- Understanding of standard system engineering design artifacts such as Use Cases and UML diagrams

Primary Level Salary Range: $129,300.00 - $193,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
